JBi-PDX
I'm not sure exactly how to ask this question, but I'll try. I'm an interior designer and tile patterns for showers are critical to me. Currently, if you have material regions of the same material on 3 walls of a shower, they are all connected to one another. Meaning, if I move the center line on one wall, the material shifts on the other walls. Is there a way to keep this from happening?

It's not because the material regions are connected, it's because material patterns and textures use the same offset settings, meaning the same location reference, for every instance. If you need to control the pattern and texture locations separately for different areas, you'll need to copy the material for the different areas and adjust the offsets. JBi-PDX
Thanks, Chrisb222. So, basically, I'd need a separate material pattern for all tiled walls in a house so that I can adjust them to exactly where I want. Is that your understanding? That's exhausting! It's just one extra button press per material if you're using the interactive material tool in component scope, not as daunting as it sounds Edited February 10 by Renerabbitt
JBi-PDX
New follow-up question. If I create a whole bunch of new materials (that will be in my user library). Can I then just reuse them for other projects? And, if I change the vertical/horizontal positioning, will that change the positioning in other models in which I used the same set of materials? Or, is the positioning done per model? Not even sure if that makes sense what I'm asking. Thanks. Jason
DBCooper
You can create as many different materials as you like in either your plan or in your library. I don't think it makes sense to create copies of library materials with different position offsets though because these are going to usually be very specific to where you are using the material in a plan. I would only make copies of the library materials if you want to make them visually different for things like changing the scaling, colors, textures, etc.
