robdyck
You'll need to use a point marker. You can place one manually, or the dimension line may generate one that you can move manually. Try locating the top of the glass dome and a point marker should appear. It appears as though Chief will not recognize the top or bottom of a light fixture or any other electrical symbol. It will snap to the bottom of the fixture, and to the countertop: The tool will place Markers at the ends of the string. If you don't want to see the markers, you can move them to another layer that's off, change their size to something really small, or change their Line Style to invisible'
PeridotDesGrp
Thank you, I was trying to use the "place point" and then adjust the dimension stringer but the red x is not recognized. The point to point works great for this and thanks for the options on how to make the markers less noticeable or invisible.
DBCooper
"Place point" creates a temporary point that can't be dimensioned to. You can use the "point marker" to create a permanent point instead. This is what gets inserted when you use the "point to point" dimension tool.
