winterdd Posted yesterday at 02:34 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:34 PM Hey guys, how many of you still add tv coaxial or the CA Cat 5 symbols for TV locations? In a world where everything is streamed is this something you still add? Or do you add a note like myself stating "Any TV cable locations to be coordinated between homeowner and electrician"? robdyck Posted yesterday at 02:49 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:49 PM I did a plan the other day with phone jacks. For real! I like your general note idea.

Oh man, I'm old school but I can do without landlines haha. I do the same note for landscape and soffit lighting as well. Less I have to show and soffit lights can be a pain and not attach sometimes. I've done projects where voice/data is by others. I think your approach of delegating to the homeowner is okay. Cable and copper lines are not entirely obsolete. Cable is still very common for internet service. As for phone lines, I can still get DSL in my building if I wanted. I have an elderly neighbor who has problems working his smart phone and he probably should get a phone line hooked up just for his own safety. I imagine once you run cable and phone to the home, it's not that much more cost to run it to a few rooms. As for ethernet, a lot of home owners like data wiring just for its reliability. No wifi connection issues. Jim

And if they want, I can ask my mom for the phone we kids used to use that had a 8' cord, she's be glad to get it out of her basement storage. Never could figure out how to text on that thing.
