CoastlineFl
I found this same question in another thread but it didn't really get answered.... I setup a layer called "Doors Ext" so I can see only my exterior doors in certain views. ie Roof plan to verify girders do not land on top of an opening. I open the defaults and go to doors, select exterior door and set it to my new layer. This works but apparently that is not the ultimate default as if I am in a window and check the default box it goes back to "Door" Where is the top level layer default for doors? For this purpose, you could use a different strategy. In your roof plan, turn on the layer for Opening Header Lines and turn off the layer for Doors. Adjust the layer color and line style to suit your needs. 20250125-1604-40.1543108.mp4

DBCooper
Just an FYI... If you open up a door in your plan and check "default" next to the layer, then the program will use the system default layer which will always be "doors" and not what you set it to in your door defaults. Changing your default doors to use some other layer should work for any new doors you place but it won't change any already in the plan. If you already have doors in your plan, you will need to set them to the layer you want instead of just checking the "default" box.
dwilliam
To set the top-level default layer for doors in your design software, you need to modify the layer settings in the layer manager. Set the default layer for exterior doors to your custom "Doors Ext" layer and make sure to apply the changes to the project template. This should ensure that all new exterior doors are assigned to the correct layer by default.
CoastlineFl Posted yesterday at 12:13 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 12:13 AM When you set the layer in the default settings for "Exterior Door" it unchecks the "Default" checkbox. After I save it and go place a door it has the proper layer ("Doors Ext") but it is not the default. So I am wondering is the top level "default" hard coded to "Doors" as DBCooper seems to suggest? Or is there a way to get the check box to apply different layers according to the setup default?
MoeGia
Defaults, Doors (the little wrench) will allow you to set up door defaults for exterior, interior, sliding, etc. You can only set one type for each category. I keep a few standard type doors in my template plan (or you can add them to your library). It makes it easy to bring in a door with everything preset.
