Entire wall included in Wall Elevation (even with Clip to Room)

Hi:

I'm having a problem with the Wall Elevation view including the entire wall of the home even though there is a "room divider"

This is causing an issue where my auto dimensions display very far away from where I actually want to show them. I know I could just turn them off and use manual dimensions, but I'd like to better understand what is causing the problem and how I can fix it. I am an amateur CA user, and it's quite likely I've done something incorrect to cause this, but hoping to not rebuild my whole model :)

Here are a bunch of photos that show the problem and my settings. (Apologies if they look too small, can't tell if they will be larger when posted)

Here's the wall causing the issue:

The open object of the wall:

The floorplan:

Room Elevation settings (I have tried various "Clippings" and nothing "removes" the wall from this room).

Is this just "how it works"? I guess I don't understand why I would ever want to include the wall area "outside" my room in a Wall Elevation.

You can just drag the Dimension Line Closer to where you want it........ if that is the only Issue?

The Last Pic you Show is not it appears from the Elevation Cameras seen in Plan View ie E7 or E9 ?

either of those two Views should be able to be clipped to Room Or if needed uncheck that and use

Clip to Sides to restrict the width of the View - you may still need to Draw the Auto Dimensions (I assume) over though.

Thanks for the response!

Dragging the dimension would work, but it requires turning off auto-dimensions. When I drag I see the following pop-up:

Again,  I guess I could (and probably should) give up and just do it with Manual dimensions, send it to my layout and call it a day, but I kind of want to learn how to fix this problem "correctly" so I'm not re-doing the workaround if I need to change the dimensions. Auto dims worked perfectly with my other view and it was really nice to tweak everything and then have it update correctly.

It's E9 (marked with "Elevation 1"). I added a new one just to see if something was weird with E7, but I have the problem with both.

I have used both clip to sides and clip to room. It _definitely_ clips what is "visible" in the elevation, but still includes the wall (again, I think! this is my theory! :) ):

I would just redraw the wall to see if that is the problem somehow but it's part of 2 floors where one is open plan + open above where there's an arched roof and was kind of a pain to get right.

Maybe I'll just do a "save as", nuke the wall and see if the problem persists. That would at least tell me if the wall was at issue.

haha, ok that makes it not a room, so I can't do auto dims any more. Ok, even if I draw room dividers around the whole thing, same problem:

ok, haha .. "Success"?

When I delete _all_ the walls on that side of the building, including the foundation (below) and 2nd floor (above), I get this.

I also get a warning about a polyline cut in the floor that .. no longer exists because the wall is gone ....

If I remove _only_ the second floor wall, I get this, which is really close to what I want:

Curiously, the "wall" is still "there":

OK. Whatever, I guess if I turn off auto dims it's only for this camera anyways, so ... not as big of a deal that I am imagining.

Just to follow up with my "solve", I wound up manually editing the dimensions. It worked better than I thought it would -- I was worried I'd have to constantly redraw and move them, but I'm mostly done with major changes (besides minor alignment/placement cleanup that the process of adding dimensions has helped inform) and it really wasn't that bad.

Here's where I wound up (some things I wanted to mark didn't show up, but close enough):

Thanks to everyone who offered help.

Let me be the first to say: I think there's more going on here than just an ornery elevation...

image.thumb.png.5a1f510b6d136c7cce31f63eaffb5854.png

This led me to deleting your roof - which fixed it. Odd that an Elevation dimension would care about a ROOF!!

Why would that be?
Well let's see what these elevation dimensions care about!

OH.

Well hello there.

hahahaha. OMG, I don't know how I did not notice that.

I think the way I built the fireplace made it think it was a room, and I had a lot of trouble configuring the vaulted ceiling + the open loft areas, so definitely the roof setup involved a _lot_ of guesswork on my part.

I've noticed sometimes when I've made minor wall changes the roofs/open areas come back, so that must've happened and then somehow I never noticed (even though I have internal cameras that are like .. right there! I'll have to see if it shows up on the interior cam).

In any case, thank you so much for having a look and apologies for the delay in my response, I have been absolutely barraged with work at my real job (which, haha, is clearly not interior design/architecture ;) ) and so haven't had a chance to catch up on this thread.

Thanks again!
