Solid Railing In Curved Staircase

Hi, 

I am new to chief Architect and I am struggling in getting a Solid Railing to follow the stairs as when I press on it and click OK, the solid railing goes straight instead of an angle. Can someone help me with this issue? Please refer to attached photo.

Solid railings have to be drawn next to the stairs, not on top of them.

• Build the radial section of rail @ the floor level as a U shape.(Meaning that it has (2) straight sections and a radial outer section.) 
• Place an invisible wall the close off the U. Designate the U shaped room as "Open To Below". This makes it work as its own "room".
• Build the stairs as one would normally build them.

Thank you for the feedback. 

While adjusting the railing to be on the side, not on top of the stairs, it actually creates the solid railing following the stairs but also the wall goes midway down to the floor below. Is there a reason for this?

If you dont need the wall cap then you can use a custom stringer:

Aside from Rene's very neat trick.. here's another option...

 

• Offset the stair railing (-3) so that it encompasses the stringers.
• Use the vertical offset option to set the rail "wall" in line w/ B.O. stringers. 

 

This way, it matches your stairs slope.

Thank you again for all your help an recommendations. 

VHampton, I am using Chief Premier X14. When doing your step by step process, I do not have the offset option. 

Also, when doing the configuration for the railing these are my settings and this is the result.

Aha... suggestion then.

 

Use Rene's very clever option  OR  make a molding poly-line to match the stair case. 

 

• Take a 2D elevation and draw a line along the top rail. Convert to a 3D molding. 
• Moldings can have caps added to them. 

 

If you keep this molding below the railing however - no cap required.
