Frieze not showing...thoughts?

This happens pretty often.  I have adjusted some of the wall heights as it was not getting it right on the auto.  But even when I reverted to default heights, the frieze didn't show (on most).  I've tried all different variations on the DB.  My client wants just the fascia and frieze (7/8" each).

It also won't recognize this area as a room.

Thanks!

In my experience Frieze moldings are the pickiest things, I often resort to just manually drawing the darn things in using 3D Molding Polylines.

For instance, the one over the front entry isn't generating because there's a lower room that's specified to have Roof Over This Room - even though you're not auto generating roofs, it still affects it.

Unchecking Roof Over This Rom (and as a result, Flat Ceiling as well) corrects this.
But removes your ceiling.

The ones under the curved roof--well, it's a curved roof, I'm not sure there's a good fix there.

These walls are all Attic Walls so "No Room Definition" is checked by default - typical walls will have all options unchecked.

Frieze not showing

As Tea Time said, the room below is interfering with the straight frieze.

You can correct that, and keep the roof and ceiling settings in that room by:

  • Uncheck Roof Over This Room on the room below
  • Unlock the Roofs, Trim layer
  • In 3D, select, then cut the correct frieze to the clipboard
  • Turn Roof Over This Room back on
  • Select and delete the new incorrect frieze
  • Paste Hold Position the correct frieze

The only problem with that trick is the frieze will not auto generate if you make changes to the roof plane(s).

For the curved roof I had to rebuild the roof plane and the frieze worked for me. Not sure why it didn't for you.

The reason you don't have a frieze on the front elevation is the roof over the front entry (left side) is not extended to the surface of the brick on the two story section.

The area that isn't a room is due to the fact that some of the walls that surround the space are designated "no room definition"...just uncheck this for the walls that surround the space and it will become a room with a floor and ceiling.
