Good Morning All,

I'm trying to add a custom made roof tile to a roof that also shows on Ray trace with the depth of the tile as drawn. (standard tile used in UK, Double roman.)

I've made the tile on a separate file see attached, and now need to use it as a roofing material that shows on my drawings with depth. All the current materials only show as a flat image

even in ray trace and standard view.

Any help is appreciated.

Jack

You will need to position each individual tile on the roof. A better solution would be to create a Material that simulates the tile's depth using the Texture Source, Bump, and Normal* maps. Refer to the X13 Reference Manual for guidance on creating a material.

* I think normal maps were introduced by X13, but I'm not certain.

Set your tile symbol as "Flush Mounted" and use a "Polyline Distribution Region" with the tile repeated at the desired vertical and horizontal spacing.

You will need another symbol for the ridges on s 3D Molding Polyline.

I think Joe means you could use a "polyline distribution region" because I don't think you can use a "material region" on a roof.

Correct.  I meant a "polyline distribution region".

For clarity I've modified my previous post.

Thanks DB
