Baldassarri
Very new user; I have tried to create a straight deck edge, confirmed its enclosed. It will not let me select a room definition and the No Room Definition box is grayed out. I cannot determine what I did to make that happen in this drawing. If I create a new plan w/basic box and draw the straight edge deck it works as expected. I have spent a couple hours trying to figure it out, which I am sure is a very simple answer. Any help/guidance is appreciated. 74 Old Ridge.dwg
Chopsaw
Be sure that all enclosing walls are not marked as " No Room Definition ". Also the Room Type dropdown is gray but you can still use it. Maybe post a couple of screen shots of your dialog boxes and your plan view and let us know what version you are using.
SNestor
You should be posting a copy of your Chief plan...not a DWG file. Thanks!
Baldassarri
74 Old Ridge.plan Sorry attached is the plan and a few screen shots showing the issue. I did check every wall and they all show the same thing. N gaps and the No Room Definition grayes out. Even on the tool dialoque on Straight Deck Railing - No Room Def is gray, but on Straight Railing its available to select I am using x15 74 Old Ridge.plan
Solution TeaTime Posted April 17, 2023 Solution Share Posted April 17, 2023 Looks like your Deck Railing Defaults are set to be Furred Walls (Structure panel, Double Wall section). Furred Walls are essentially No Room by definition, so the option is checked, then disabled so you can't Undo it.
