myrtsbnye
Is there a way to save a plan file as an older version of CA? Was sent an X14 file to work on but don't have X14. Similar to what Autocad allows... Thanks for your time,
BenPalmer
Unfortunately no. It is not backward compatible. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01209/message-this-plan-cannot-be-opened.html You would need to be running the same or newer version of what they are running. Or on future projects, they would need to run an older version. Once a file is saved into a newer version, it cannot go back. Hope that helps. Chopsaw
No sorry that is not possible with the entire plan file. The best you could do is export a PDF or .dwg file for a 2D trace over situation. Perhaps the project would make the upgrade worthwhile for you. Also this to consider:
myrtsbnye
That was my fear. Thanks for your quick responses Chopsaw and Ben. Luckily the project is in it's infancy and will not take much time to recreate in X13. Was hoping to save a couple hours though.
VHampton
For future reference, there may be a time saver in exporting the newer X-14 plan to CAD. The CAD import can then be brought to life in a previous version w/ the "CAD to Walls" tool. It's not perfect, but it works fairly well. There's a dated tutorial on the web by a fellow user which helps explain...
