Railings 2Nd Floor Railings Are On First Floor - Help

Hi - I've been in CAD for 20 years but new to CA

 

Finally figured out the cable rails but

 

My deck railings keep showing up on the floor below

also happens when I do an auto stairwell

or a manual stairwell created by railings

 

I am sure there is a little toggle somewhere

if they are manually railings and you draw them too close to the edge of the deck/landing/staircase they will "fall" to the next floor ,also on staircases you may need to use the "follow stairs" setting in the DBX ( your little toggle? )

Hi - attached is the plan 

 

I understand about "falling through"

but if I am using railings - manually to create a "room"  shouldn't fall through right?

 

Also the same thing happens when I create an exterior deck on the second floor

I opened your plan and the railings were ok when I opened it, the only thing was on the right second floor the front railings were missing

You have the railing designated as "Follow Stairs" on the Rail Style panel. 

 

Tip: You will get faster dynamic rotations of the 3D model in Render mode if you turn off "Legacy Shadows" in the Render Preferences.

Glenn has it correct I just seen that and was going to post but do as he says uncheck follow stairs

Maybe you were using a different version, but in X6 the rail showed on Level 1.

Yes if it's not a staircase make sure you uncheck it , it will jump backup once both rails are unchecked.........you haven't made a panel with that set as the default or something have you?

 

I don't see a falling issue with the interior stairs though they aren't connected to the upper landing ,perhaps you dragged it back playing since the plan doesn't look like the original image posted.

Ahhh yes I checked follow stairs to use a ”railing wall" to get the cable rail on stairs

if you used multiple copy like in the Tutorial you could accidently carry that setting over to the new areas too
