Can't see terrain in camera views

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I imported a terrain perimeter with elevation data from a .dwg file.

I can't see the terrain in any of my camera views.

I checked to make sure that a terrain perimeter was created and that each contour line has an elevation associated with it.

It does.

Attached is my .plan and the .dwg file I imported.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

I'm using X10 on my iMac.

When I create a Terrain Peremeter, it's rather large.

Your terrain is on a layer called BOUNDARY, so make sure that is toggled on in the camera view.

Open the Terrain Specification dbx and change the Terrain Surface Smoothing to Medium or any one except Linear.

It looks like the terrain needs some work.

Well that is rather interesting.  Does that mean you can have an imported terrain as well as a " Chief Terrain " ??

Is there more than one terrain?

Did Eric delete the original before creating the new one ?

I am not sure what Eric did, but there was already a terrain in the plan which did not allow me to generate another terrain.

I guess he must have deleted the existing one.

Darn I though that Jason may have found something new just by asking a question.

Opening a camera view and turning on the used layers, I could not see anything -- blank screen.

Tried Fill Window Building Only and still nothing.

I deleted the existing terrain perimeter and had Chief create a new one. It seems to think there is an object somewhere far away.

Thanks for the feedback everybody. :)

Glenn:

There should only be one terrain.

In my CA plan, I got frustrated with and started to make some topography by using poly line solids. That’s the bit you see off to the left of the terrain in your pic above of the terrain you got to show up in camera view.

I am going to look at the original cad file and see if I can clean it up and then reimport it into CA.
