Door slab only

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to use a door slab only without the jamb etc?  In this particular situation we'd like to use a wide door slab as a narrow partition between a vanity and the toilet to provide a bit of privacy.  Thanks.

A door slab is just a polyline solid so it would be easier to just use a polyline solid for your partition or possibly a thin railing wall would also work.

A Partition or Soffit from the Cabinet Tools will do that for you better as a Door will need a Wall etc to place it.....

Thanks for the replies. I should have clarified that we'd like to use a three panel door to add some interest with the upper panel being a decorative glass to allow some light through.

So then open a new plan and insert your chosen door into a short wall and then change the wall to a room divider and remove all the stuff on the door that you don't want.  Then create a symbol and use that in your bathroom.  I have a tutorial with a few more details that might help as some of the procedure will be the same.

Okay, Chopsaw beat me. But anyway, here's a simple step-by-step:

1. Start a blank plan.

2. Draw an Interior Wall.

3. Insert the door you want, size it appropriately. Then open the door dialog box and uncheck Casing>Use Interior Casing; also set Hardware>Handles/Locks to None and Hardware>Hinges to Hidden.

4. Shoot an ortho view and remove the wall with the 3D>Delete Surface tool.

5. Now you have a door with nothing you don't need. Make it a Symbol with Tools>Symbol>Convert to Symbol. I typically define this kind of thing as a Millwork symbol.

6. Insert into your plan.

      Hello All,

I am working on a plan for an addition and in the basement there is a garage with an overhead door and man door. The doors show up on the 3D overviews and elevations, but not the foundation plan. I have checked the layers and they are all on. The odd thing is that I have layer called Doors, Existing and they are showning fine everywhere. Note the new doors do show up on an older version of the plan (backup copy).

      Any suggestions would be appreciated.

      Thank you in advance,

I have a 3-4 door opening that I want to place a double 1-8 hinged door into.  I can't seem to find an option in the door specification menu that will allow me to make the door a double door.  It just automatically places a single door that is 3-4.
