HomesByDesign
Did I see a symbol or topic on drop down stairs somewhere here recently? I need to access my attic in the garage and I'm going to do it using a set of pull downs,,,, Thanks

Electromen
In our area, Pulldown stairs are not permitted in the garage. They do not qualify for the fire rating.

Northriver
You can use these in the garage. The lid has to be self closing (the pull down stairs all ready are) and the lid has to be fire rated (just attach 5/8" type x to the lid overlapping the opening). We put these in garages all the time. Detached garages require no fire proofing of lid if more than 10' away from a residential building.
