It closes just fine actually. I can send the plan file a little later. Andy. -

Oh now I understand what you are trying to do, DOH!! as Homer would say. I'll have to look at it later. Andy. -
There is probably something in the fascia board that are unalike in both roof planes. Andy,

Problem With Plot Plan, Survey Data Incorrect?
AndyGump replied to rwdozier's topic in General Q & A
I have no idea if this is the issue that you posted about but I notice that the two tract map surveys you posted are the same exact size but (I think) Chief is showing the lines going in different directions. Perhaps that is why the azimuth readings are not matching up? Andy. -
There is a way to show the Newels and balusters in plan view. Open the dialog box for the stairs and go to the "newels/balusters" tab, uncheck the "default" box and then click on the " Draw newels/balusters" radio box. Andy.

Jeez, just tried it again and now the framing is moving with the display of roof planes. What next? Andy.
-
Well, I guess I can not believe yous guys no mo'. I just tried displaying the 2nd floor roof planes on the lower floor and the rafter framing is still on the 2nd floor. Andy.
-
No worries, I understand what you guys are saying on this then. I almost never show the framing from Chief as I think it clutters up the structural plan. I usually just show arrows for the direction and lengths of my framing members so I guess I have just never run into this situation before. Andy.
-
Scott, what? The framing will not go to floor below, the framing and roof planes stay where they are, the planes merely "display" on the lower floor which is what I think he is looking to do. Maybe I did not understand what he wanted then. Andy.
-
Select all the roof planes on the second floor and use the "display on floor below" tool. It looks like a little arrow pushing down a gable roof. Andy.

One big thing for me is that now, when drawing dimensions in cross section or elevations, it no longer takes forever for the curser to jump from one point to another, yahoo! Andy.
-
Ooh, that is a fine thought. I will check that out. Andy.

Hi Randy, thank you sir. I have done this and rest assured I do have Administrator rights on for me. This has always been one of "those" things in Windows that has plagued me since XP really. The program (Windows) not letting me do as I need to do, saying I have to be an Administrator and I am THE Administrator. This has not happened to you before? Andy.
-
This has been something that has dogged me from the beginning with Windows. I know that I have established Administrator Rights from the time that I install the new OS but Windows does not recognize this all the time. It intermittently tells me I must "contact the Administrator" for the computer to do something when I know full well that I have established this from the get-go. Andy.

HI Perry, true that. What is very strange is that I create a folder on the desk top and then I can save the layout file and all in that folder but not in some other places such as SugarSync and DropBox. Perhaps I jumped the gun and blamed Chief too quickly and erroneously. It could be a Windows " you need to be a High and Exalted Grand Poohba Administrator" for your system to do this kind of thing. Andy.
-
Hey all, are others experiencing difficulty in using the back up entire plan/layout to folder option? I create a brand new folder and try to back up the entire Layout file with plans files attached and Chief is not allowing this. It says that the directory has files in it and it will not back back up to a folder with files in it. All very nice but I just created the GD folder and know for a fact that there are NO files sin it. Very GD frustrating. Andy.

Well put Michael. Andy.
-
How will it go? Probably very well. I have done this before and have always had good results. Andy.

Hey Delano, Scott was suggesting posting the actual Chief .plan file. Go to the .plan file in the Windows folder, right click on it and then 'send to'. From there send it to a .zip file. This will compress it and you can post the .zip file in this thread. Andy.

I hope I do not get that grumpy when I am 58... ...Oh dang, I will be in December next year. I best get started working on my grumpy management issues. Andy.

DraftSite saves as a DWG. Andy.

Help me out here, specifically, what tool would you like to see that will help with the new codes? I almost never have to spec out any HVAC lines or even plumbing lines for that matter. No AHJ has ever asked about "Spring Closers" for garage doors, unless you mean the requirement for self-closing doors from house to garage. That just goes in as a note on my plans. So you really show the drip-edge on your roofs in 3D? Does any AHJ require this or want to see it? I guess if you don't like using the "pocket knife" go buy the laser for $6000.00. Andy.
