  1. Doesn't it say "both above and below". Alan
  2. I think you need to post the plan to get help with this. Make sure the plan is not open when you upload it. Alan
  3. So once that is done I can select each dimension number and change it from feet and inches to inches? Thanks Alan
  4. Glenn How exactly do you do that as I would love to change from feet and inches to inches for some dimensions? Thanks Alan
  5. I must be missing something here but we are talking about floors (Level 0, Level 1 etc) and a foundation is not a floor in and of itself -- it's part of a floor. You pour a footing for a basement but it's not a floor until you build the walls. Alan
  6. What would you recommend for a laser measurer that connects to CA Room Planner App via Bluetooth? Thanks Alan
  7. Are you using a Mac or a PC? For a Mac I keep my plans and layouts for example in Documents>Architectural Projects>John Doe Construction>Nightingale Lot 23. I add a PDF sub-folder for plots. Make sure you have a rock solid backup procedure. I use Apple's Time Machine on a Drobo (a multi hard drive backup device so if one drive fails I don't lose all my work). You certainly don't want to be half way through a client's project and lose everything. Alan

    Blocks

    Thanks guys Alan
  9. I will try that. Maybe I'm making it more complicate than it is. Alan
  10. Joe But the soffit is down on the first floor -- the garage walls. Alan
  11. I am doing a design for a contractor -- it's a story and a half with a bonus room over the garage with 5' knee walls at the ceiling break. The bonus room gable roof planes (12/12) sit on the garage walls and in order to get enough ceiling height in the bonus room the contractor said to add 12" pony walls over those walls to raise the soffit height and thus the ridge height. I'm not sure how to set the heights of the bonus room and garage. Please look at the attached plan and let me know how to get what the contractor wants. Look at the two screen shots to see where the knee walls are supposed to go. Thanks Alan Edit I should have added that it also raises the ceiling height in the dormer to match the rest of the second floor. springfield 11 alt.plan

    Blocks

I added it to my library and then brought it back in and can now explode it. Thanks Alan

Michael the current height and width are 162" and 272 13/16". If I change the width to 162" it screws up the ration. Alan

    Blocks

I'm trying to explode a block I made but get a message saying it cannot be exploded because the X Y scaling are different. Is there anyway I get around this? Thanks Alan
  15. I'm still waiting for my contractor to start on one of mine. Nice design BTW. Alan
  16. This may not be exactly what you wanted but what I did was to make a cross section then did a CAD Detail From View. I then made a back clipped cross section and did a CAD Detail From View. I then copied all the items I need such as doors windows from the cross section and did a Paste Hold Position on the back clipped cross section. It's a little tedious but achieves the desired result. Alan
  17. Thanks Eric. I found out that %automatic_label% %schedule_number% gives me exactly what I need. Still not sure why the very same macro %width% % height% returns different formats for windows and doors -- doesn't make sense. Alan
  18. Sorry Eric I don't know how to do that. Could you guide me please? Thanks Alan

    Blocks

Is there a way to edit items in a block without exploding it? For instance I have a block for an elevation view and I have to explode it to change the title and the E number. Thanks Alan
  20. Thanks Yusuf. Do I create only one quoin or the whole side? If the whole side will it automatically extend with the window size? Alan
  21. Anyone know how to add quoins around windows (see screenshot -- sorry about the size? Thanks Alan
  22. Eric Where does that piece of code go? I assume it's global so it wouldn't go in my macro. Alan
  23. Thanks Eric I'll try that. Still not sure why the exact same macro returns different formats. Alan
  24. If you don't want the walls just add room dividers instead. Alan
