  1. Yep, I was able to use this method to get the angles correct - but for some reason other faces don't follow the same setting.
  2. Is there any way to make the point to point tool non-associative as it used to be? I hate the change they made to this tool, as it seems like they've nearly invalidated the reason someone would use it - its purpose is now blurred with the other dimension tools.
  3. I really don't understand texture directions in Chief. Its difficult enough that individual faces on a shape/object can't be controlled (without exploding), but it sometimes appears textures on other faces of a shape/object aren't even following the same direction the rest are. What madness is this? I mean the very ends of the wood sections would look like this (the bad area), but the sides should have the same directional grain.
  4. I know everyone is going to have "their fav", but i've been particularly impressed with MSI products. My laptop (which isn't my main workstation) from MSI is full metal construction, solid spec, and focused on cooling - which is the single most important thing for a laptop user to consider when doing high end graphics/modeling. No matter the spec of your laptop, if its not good at cooling then it will "throttle" down (automatically limit) your performance to the best cooling profile it can make for itself. This means you might pay for an awesome processor or video card and the computer just slows it down regardless.
  5. God bless the engineer that makes that work structurally.
  6. I didn't see that video - looking at it now - thanks
  7. Does anyone know how they are showing the topo lines on the terrain model here? https://www.chiefarchitect.com/company/pressgraphics/magazine-ads/california-house.html?utm_content=&utm_source=VerticalResponse&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=Read more&utm_campaign=Chief Architect Software News To a lesser extend I would also like to know how they show the transparent building on the non-transparent foundation structure. Is this in Photoshop or Chief?
  8. I use an Wacom Intuos and it works great with Chief versions X4-X10. If you really mean V.10 I have no idea, but I would say Windows is probably fighting with that old of an app.
  9. I just tested using your files and it works perfectly. Here is the PDF. MPD_LAYOUT_FILE.pdf
  10. Does anyone have any tricks on recalling render-view settings? I personally like a setting combination in Watercolor with the overlaid sketch to certain numbers with shadows but having to do this each time, for each view, and each project is next to insane. I see no way to save the view settings...?
  11. I'd say its the contractor. If you had "for construction" drawings that had the gable drawn in then its his fault for using the permit set. That is a fairly common issue and why most firms label the drawing sets "Permit Set" and "For Construction" set.
  12. Thanks Rene. Do you have time tomorrow?
  13. THIS is exactly what they need to do. If they want to keep stairs as they have it in the app, at least they can give us part options to assemble more complex stairs. However, Scotts stairs aren't even all that complex.
  14. Does anyone know a good place for high res textures (architectural) with associated image maps? I dont mind buying those textures, but I am having a hard time finding a good selection. Thanks!
  15. Thanks - yeah i think that was on in Chief but i didn't have the correct setting in Win 10 to make use of that feature. I have to two snyc'd up now and its perfect clarity.
  16. I'm still running a bit slower in performance than i would like - but it is a lot better. At home i have a GTX 1060 in my laptop, and that should be more than enough to run Chief in 4k quickly.
  17. Got it fixed!!! So I guess I had Win 10 icon scaling "off" which when I turned it on made everything perfect. Thank you for your reply since that made me dig further and know it was me and not Chief.
  18. Good to know - thank you. Are you using the GTX970 with that monitor? I'll keep looking for a solution then for my situation.
  19. I purchased on of the highest resolution monitors i've owned - a new LG that is 4k on a 32" size - 3840x2160. All my other apps look great, and its been fantastic. ...except for Chief. The UI is blurry and overall very poor performance - almost a "under-water" experience. It massively helped upping the resolution by 125%, but the UI is still oddly blurry compared to the sharp, rich, experience I get with every other app i've tried. At my office I used dual Dell 30" monitors that are called "4k" but they don't run at 3840x2160 which makes me wonder how that works. Everything at my office looks and performs fine. So does this mean Chief just isn't optimized for high end displays?...or am I doing something wrong? Again, every other app i've tried works just fine so its a bit odd to me Chief would be the only app I have an issue with. Can someone comment if they are using a real 4k display at 3840x2160 and let me know if everything is looking fine at 125%? Thanks!
  20. If you guys have updated to the new Win 10 version this is actually now controlled by the OS. On my laptop I was struggling to understand why I was having issues all of a sudden controlling this from Nvidia's app. Watch this video for more info....they go over the top 5 new features but they show specifically how this is now controlled by Win 10. I started using this and works like a charm.
  21. We are looking to hire 1 if not 2 new full time drafters. We have a good team now dealing mostly in residential, in-house architects/engineers/drafters servicing a large home builder exclusively...its just we need more drafters. If you have an interest, please message me through Chief and I can share more details.
  22. Sometimes its not about forcing something to work, but redesigning or adjusting the structure (assuming its new construction) to be fundamentally compatible with design, egress, building sciences (flashing Glenn mentions) etc etc. That can require going backwards to move forward. To me, without spending a bunch of time on it, I think you have that situation here.
