  1. Eric, That area with the cabinet and the enclosed space to the right are a part of the chimney. The chimney is the same width from bottom to top. They took a part of the chimney on the second floor and made it a part of the master bathroom. I need the walls of that area to extend above the roof with the rest of the chimney. I did not know how to do that if that area was included in the master bedroom so I made it into 2 separate rooms. Thanks, Mike
  2. I input an existing master bathroom that was a platform bathtub. The client wants to remove the platform bathtub and replace it with a free standing bathtub. When I removed the platform bathtub, which I used polyline solids to make the platform, I see that the baseboard molding is missing on the walls where the platform was. How do I get the baseboard molding to show on those walls ? Thanks, Mike Niami_Kitchen_Remodel_2.zip
  3. I have a small vertical piece of stucco showing up on the inside of the house. I tried redrawing the wall. That did not work. Can someone that a look at my plan and let me know how to remove the stucco from the inside of the master bathroom. Thanks, Mike Niami_Kitchen_Remodel_2.zip
  4. Thanks David, How did you keep the stucco pattern to show on the new wall only ? I selected the adjust material definition icon then selected the wall I wanted the stucco pattern to show on. I then selected material type and picked textured and 3" for spacing. This worked, but the stucco pattern shows on both the new wall and existing walls. Scott said that I need to create two different materials for the stucco. One for the existing stucco without the stucco texture and the new stucco wall with the stucco texture. I do not know how and where to do that. Perry, you said that you do not do this any more because it will create a line between the new and existing walls. How would you suggest adding a stucco pattern to the new walls only ? Thanks, Mike
  5. How do I add a stucco pattern to elevations of the addition walls only ? I do not want the existing walls to have this pattern. When I use the adjust material definitions command to add the stucco pattern to the new addition walls, all of the walls, new and existing get the stucco pattern. I have two different wall types in the plan. One is called "Stucco 4, Existing" and the other is called "Stucco 4, New". How do I add the stucco pattern to the "Stucco 4, New" walls only ? Thanks, Mike
  6. Thanks, I will try that the next time I send to the group. Mike
  7. I spoke to technical support about this the first time when I could not get back into the file I sent the group. They told me to restart the computer the computer after I sent the plan to the group. When I try to open the plan after sending it to the group I get a message that the file may be open on another computer. It's not on my end. Even it was, why would that be a problem. What if I send the plan to my engineer and he was using CA and was working on the structural plans. Is CA saying that we can not both be working on the plan at the same time. He at his office an I at my office. That can be a problem. Thanks, Mike
  8. Thanks Rich, Eric & Graeme for the help. Every thing looks good. I have another question. When I send a plan to the group I can not get back into that plan file unless I completely turn off my computer and restart it again. Over the last few months I have sent several plans to the group and every time I have to restart my computer in order to open the plan file. Does anyone else have this issue ? Thanks again, Mike
  9. I am inputting an as-built floor plan into CA, At the rear of the house is a two story bay. On the second floor in elevation view I am getting some unwanted line at the corners. I have tried redrawing the second floor walls of the bay but I still get unwanted line on the north and east elevations. I have attached my plan to this post. Can someone take a look at the two elevations and let me know why this is happening and how I can correct it ? Thank, Mike 2017-02-As_Built_Plans.plan
  10. Since I have upgraded to X-9, CA has been very slow on switching view. I keep getting a message that CA is regenerating the model. I spoke to tech. support today. I was told that I might need to upgrade my graphics card to a mid range gamming card like NIVIDA G Force. I just got off of the phone with my computer technician. He said that there is around a hundred G Force card on the market. He asked me to ask what G Force card to order. Does any one use the G Force graphics card ? If so, what card works well with CA X-9 ? Thanks, Mike
  11. Is the Jet Direct printer card specifically for HP plotters ? It looks like the jet direct is an Ethernet card. It looks like there is already an Ethernet card in my plotter. I never used it. My plotter is using the parallel port. If I need to get the Jet Direct card, do you know which model I should get ? Thanks, Mike
  12. I Have a problem with X-9. My computer I have CA on it is not hooked up to my plotter. I have an older computer that is hooked up to the plotter. This computer is not hooked up to the internet. I want to protect this computer from getting any viruses. This is the computer I have AutoCAD on. About 80% of my work I do in AutoCAD. The problem is that when I print in CA, I print as a PDF then take it to the other computer for printing. This worked great until I upgraded to X-9. When I call up the plan in adobe the background of the camera views are all dark black. They use to have a white background like the floor plans I sent to layout. So this is no good. If I use the make CAD detail from view then send it to layout, open it on the other computer with Adobe I do not get the dark solid black background. If I want to plot directly from the computer with CA on it, I was told that I might need to purchase a newer plotter. My plotter is an HP Designjet 750C Plus. I was told that it would be difficult to find a driver for Windows 7 for my plotter. I really do not want to spend another few thousand dollars on a new plotter when the plotter I have is in good shape. So I am left with sending the camera views as a CAD detail at the moment. Now I just need to find a way to have the line weights stay the same. Thanks, Mike
  13. I'm not seeing "Pattern Lines" or "Edge Lines". I am in the layout page, I left clicked on the camera view then selected "Edit layout Lines". I get the active layer display option popping up to the right. There is no layers called "Pattern Lines" or "Edge Lines". I have also tried the reverse order of selection and I get the same thing. Is the edit layout tool your talking about the third tool from the right titled "Edit Layout Lines". Thanks, Mike
  14. I watched a CA video a few months ago that shown how to lighten up the roof fill pattern for plotting. It left the roof planes as is and only changed the fill pattern. I forgot how they did this and I can not find the video. Can someone let me know how to do this ? Thanks, Mike
  15. I'm using X-9. I used the CAD detail from view on one of my elevations. All of the lines were converted to one line type and one line weight. The line weight on the elevation went from .18 to .35. In the CAD detail they were all changed to .02. Text, dimensions and lines with arrows all retained their original line weights. All other lines such as wall, windows, roof, posts and patio rafters were changed to a .02 line weight and given the layer name "CAD, Default Lines". Shouldn't all lines retain their original layer names and line weights ? If not, this is a fairly useless command. I do not want to spend a lot of times working on a detail or elevations then using the CAD detail from view command to have all of the layer names changed to "CAD, Default Lines" and all the line weight changed to .02. I have a call in to tech. support on this issue. They are suppose to call be back. I have not heard back from them yet. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to correct this ? Thanks, Mike
  16. I am attaching my plan and layout sheet with the plot plan. I am getting the plan ready for the HOA meeting later this week. I still have a little more work on the plot plan, but this is how I have been drawing them for the last 33 years. I do not provide the entire floor plan. I draw a dashed line that represents the exterior edge of the outside walls. I trying to figure out what is the easiest way to do this. Thanks, Mike Naimi Layout.layout 2017-02-X9_Design_1.plan
  17. So you show all of the rooms on the plot plan ? Bathrooms, family rooms, kitchens, etc. I have never send it done that way. Usually it's the outline of each floor along with the roof plan that is shown on the plot plan. Sending the entire floor plan can get cluttered. Thanks, Mike
  18. Do you send the entire floor plan to the plot plan or do send an outline of both floors and the roof plan to the plot plan ?
  19. Thanks for the suggestions. I am setting up and annotation plot plan set. Creating an exterior room polyline is a good idea. This works great for a one story house. How do I do this with a two story house ? I know I can have the 2nd story roof planes move down to the first floor, but how do I get the 2nd floor exterior room polyline to also move down to the first floor ? Thanks, Mike
  20. I am working on a room addition plan and ready to send the plot plan to the layout sheet. In AutoCAD, for the plot plan, I use a single dashed line that outline the exterior walls and solid lines that represents the roof of the house. Is there away to do this in CA ? It looks to be that I have to send the entire floor plan including the interior walls. Is this correct ? One way I could do this is to trace over the exterior walls and give it a unique layer name, turn off all irrelevant layer then send this to layout. I'm hoping that CA has a better way of doing this. Thanks, Mike
  21. I am working on a project that has a second floor balcony. The client wants a custom wright iron guardrail. I am a subscriber to Chieftutor.com and see that in the symbols library there is a custom wrought iron rail. The question is how do I get the railings in Chieftutor to replace the typical wood rails produced by CA ? Thanks, Mike
  22. Eric, I found the through wall at end. That fixed it. Thanks Again, Mike
