  1. I download the residential template from the list. I see the default saved plan views. How do I get those save plan views in my existing template file ? Thanks, Mike
  2. I down loaded the residential template and see the saved plan views. How do I get those plan views into my existing template file ? Thanks, Mike
  3. No. I see the folder, but nothing is in the folder/
  4. I was watching a CA video on Saved Plan Views. In the Video he said that CA was shipped with 12 default plan views. I'm looking in the plan view folder under the project browser and there is no default plan views. Is there another location where these default plan views might be saved ? If so, how do I get them into the plan view folder under the project browser ? Thanks, Mike
  5. Can we modify the shape of the layout window sent to the layout page ? The surveyor sent me his plans for a house I am designing. I needed to rotate the layout window in order to fit on my plans at a 1"=20' scale. The surveyor has a lot of stuff on his plans that I do not need to show. In order to to this I would need to reshape the rectangular shape of the layout window in order crop out this unneeded information. Thanks, Mike
  6. Thank you Joey. That works and saved me a lot of time.
  7. Hi Ridge_Runner, What do you mean when you refer to a warehouse plan ? How do you create a warehouse plan ? Thanks, Mike
  8. Thank you Joey for the annotation and layer set for the details. I some what new to this. How do I get them into my system ? I never done this before. Thank You, Mike
  9. In the video I watched they said nothing about setting defaults for detail. It makes since. So I create a layer set for the details. Do I need to create a layer set for each detail scale that I will be using ? Thanks, Mike
  10. I am drawing a number of details my engineer sent over. On prior projects I would draw them in AutoCAD then bring them into CA. I want to start using CA cad detail management. I watch one of CA video's on drawing details. It said that details are drawn in real scale. Then send to the layout page in at the desired scale. I started to add the text to the detail I just drew and the text is to large. Also the arrow is way to large. In the video he added 6" high text and a leader with an arrow and it looked to be the right size. I way using 4.5" high text and it looked much larger than the 6" high text in the video. I must be missing something. How do I get the text and arrow sizes to show correctly using the cad detail management tool ? I will be sending the details to the layout page at 3/4"=1'-0". Thank You, Mike
  11. I recently replaced my HP Designsjet 750c plus plotter with an HP Designjet T525 36" wide. I was printing a job today and ran out of 36" wide rolls of paper. I have some 24" wide rolls that I loaded up. I need the layout plan to be rotated 90 degrees in order to print on the 24" wide roll of paper. I went into the print dialog and selected portrait for the rotation. The drawing does not rotate. It splits the drawing in half and places half of the drawing above the over half. I also printed as a pdf file and tried rotating the pdf to print the plan. I still could not get the plan to rotated 90 degrees for printing. Does anyone know how I can get the layout plan to rotate 90 degrees so I can print the 36"x24" plan on a 24" wide roll of paper ? Is this an issue with Chief or is it an issue with HP ? Thanks, Mike
  12. A few months ago I bought a new Dell computer. I'm using the same monitor since it fairly new. I upgraded to CA 12 at the same time I bought the new computer. I have CA 11 on the new computer as well. When I view the note sheets in CA 11 everything looks fine. It only messed up when I view in CA 12. I have corrected some of the text by double clicking on the text, one line at a time, This for some reason this corrects the text size. Thanks, Mike
  13. I already had, one line at a time changed the notes you revised. I tried it on one of the other notes. It worked on half of the text . The text is now not on top of each other. Half of the text is about twice as big as the correct text size. I have the first 6 lines of text to big. The next line is correct. Next line to big, Next line correct. Next 5 lines to big. Next 8 lines are correct. I have no idea why it would correct some text and leave the other lines twice as big. It must be the mystery of Chief. At least half was corrected Which leaves me less work to correct the other half. Thanks, Mike
  14. I never used the match properties before. How do I use this to change the text ? Thanks, Mike
  15. I tried to send the CA 11 layout file but I got the message that I can only send 25MB. I thought that was at one time. The file size I was trying to send was less than 6MB.
  16. Attached are the plan file and layout file. I inserted the floor plan notes in the plan file so you could open the note file. The notes part normally part of my layout page. If you look a pages 1, 2 and 9 in my layout file you see that the notes are all screwed up. Is there a quicker way to correct all the notes at the same time instead of one line at a time ? Thanks, Mike Atkins-New Floor Plan 2.plan Atkins-New_Floor_Plan_2.layout
  17. Over the last couple of years I have saved a lot of notes in CA 10 & 11. I have created typical note sheets for both residential and commercial project. When I open them up in CA 12 they are all screwed up. The text for some reason in CA 12 is bigger and they are on top of each other. They were typed in as rich text. Now they are all individual lines of text. I spoke to tech. support today and she said they they have been hearing about this problem. She said it's not Chiefs fault, it's has something to do with the new fonts being a little different than the old fonts. She said that I need to click on each line of text go into the rich text specification DBX the go to options and check off both Auto Height and Auto Width. This works but doing this one line at a times is going to take along time. Has anyone else ran into this problem ? and is there a faster way to correct this problem other than one line at a time ? Thanks, Mike
  18. When I place a 110 outlet into the plan from the menu bar it comes in as a GFCI. This is correct for bathrooms & kitchens but not for bedrooms, living rooms, etc. Is there a way to change the menu default outlet to a standard 110 outlet for every room except bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms and garages ?
  19. Thank You for your reply. I will try that when I get back from lunch. Mike
  20. Hi Chopsaw, That was it. The roof plane were set to 9 1/4". How are you doing? We haven't spoke for awhile. Give me a call when you get the chance. I would call you but a forgot your phone number. Thanks, Mike
  21. Here is a framing perspective of the trusses. I see another problem. The last 5 trusses are elevated. The top cord should be sitting on top of the lower cored. To the right is an existing garage also with trusses. The 2 roof planes meet at the wall where the trusses are shown. This will create a valley with a cricket above. Is the 2 roof plans coming together raising the upper cord 8 to 10 inches above the lower cord ? If so, why ? How to I get the upper cords to be lower. And I do not have the energy heel option checked.
  22. I am doing a small room addition project using roof trusses. When I do a section through the addition I see that the trusses are drawn with a lower cord that extend beyond the exterior wall by 8 to 10 inches. I need the lower cord to stop at the outside edge of the exterior wall. Is there a setting that controls if the lower cord stops at the wall or extends past the exterior wall. 3D Framing.bmp
