  1. Unless I'm missing it, is there a way to specify side, bottom and back thickness of cabinets, I.E. 1/2" or 3/4" for sides and bottom. 1/4" and 1/2" backs? Actually for drawers also. We do a lot of custom in house cabinet building and I'd like to be able to make more material specific shop drawings. At the moment I do them in AutoCad or SketchUp Pro. Thanks for any assistance. Doug
  2. Sorry Michael, been out of office and just now read this. To many projects at once. I'm sure you know how that goes. I will post a sample ASAP. Appreciate your time. Doug
  3. For you Macro Gurus...I'm Using X12 I'm trying to automate some of the more mundane & time consuming aspects of my layouts. If this is even possible, What I would like to achieve is to create a custom schedule for Zoning information, To populate the schedule with square footage and or percentages obtained from closed polylines and or dimensions. (to be done in Cad details then sent to layout). I'm sure most are familiar with the heading of such a schedule so I won't list them here. Unless one would like a sample of what I'm looking for and need populating. I do use macros that come with CAP and currently taking a couple "Learning Macro's for beginners" courses. I'm not complexity unfamiliar with macro coding but I have a long way to go, it just new for me. I used to wright LISP routines for AutoCad back in the 80's but have been out of touch with that for quite some time. Any advise, references, videos, classes I could fall on to boost my learning of the subject would be greatly appreciated. Regards and Stay safe. Doug
  4. Yeah, for now...Apple hasn't even released a video card yet to accommodate RTRT. Supposedly by the end of 2021. If I heard correctly.
  5. Looks Similar to Matterport https://matterport.com/
  6. It's called a "Belt Line" As mentioned it's easier to just do it manual, Select roof plane, hit the #3 key (for break) and click on the roof plane where the dormer corner meets the roof, then select the edge of the roof and drag the lower section over along the dormer.
  7. A "Sill" plate (the first board down on a foundation wall) as it's typically called and the first board down under a framed wall is typically called a wall plate or "shoe". At least that's what I and my framing crews call it. I've called it a "shoe" for 40 yrs. But to the OP, depending on which Plates/Sills your referring to, I assume the lower wall plate/shoe based on your picture...I was able to add 3 and 4 show up after framing walls.
  8. I beg to differ, I realize what Absolute means. It was set before I even built the terrain. Rebuilding is what triggered it to drop. I even deleted the terrain several times AFTER trying different settings. Job is done so no matter now. But I will get to the bottom of it when I have time. Thanks for the feedback.
  9. Thanks, I know it’s doable but still quicker (For me that is) in SU if I want them looking like the real thing. Can’t say I won’t use CA’s method on jobs that don’t really require such detail. Thanks for your time.
  10. Thanks, yeah I know, tried um all, Absolute, From finished floor etc. etc. Same results regardless.. I just did what I always do, move my model into a photo of the real property. If I remember I'll post a finished rendering. Thanks Again Dermot.
  11. I think mine look better. You can't get the turns (2" and 4" rads) in CA IMO as easy as I do in SU. No Plugins, Just the Push Pull tool. Takes a couple minutes. Not only that, (not that I've tried) I don't think you can change direction from for example, an A elbow to a B elbow in one shot.
  12. I have no clue what's going on, I've been making symbols with SketchUp Pro for years and importing them into CA (I'm using version X12) this has never happened. I can't tell you the time wasted on correcting the issue. If I keep Terrain off, no problems, Once I rebuild the terrain, Well you see what happens. Thankfully this is a very simple project. Just the dormer and Portico. The leader on the dormer was made the same was as 1st floor leader and hand rails. Yet it doesn't move, I'm assuming cause it on the second floor. I even moved the terrain to basement level (0) and same thing happens. I rarely work with terrains so I'm sure it's a setting I'm unaware of. I do most finished renderings in Photoshop from photos taken of actual site. Any suggestions welcome. Just a side note, been using CA from day one so it's not a lack of experience..(I don't think).. but could be lack of Terrain knowledge. Thanks much, Doug
  13. Thank all, tried everything suggested here to no avail. All my other printers/plotters are working just fine. Picked up a new HP T530 (T520 are no longer available) and it's working just fine.
  14. Thank Moe. I'll try, even though I bought an HP T530...needed to get jobs done and printing couldn't wait. I haven't heaved the 450 just yet so I'll check out your suggestion.
  15. My HP 450c was working till I updated my Win 10 Pro computer, now I can’t get it to work. Been trying for 3days to no avail. So I’m looking (need to replace it) I was hoping to pick up an HP T520 but they’re no longer available, so I’ll probably go with the HP T530. Not a bad deal for $1,200. I usually just print con docs, occasionally a few pages in color. I did fine with the 450c so I’m sure the 530 will be as good. Can’t complain, the 450 lasted almost 20 years, but even with Win 10 before updating I was staring to have a few issues. So unless I hear bad things about the T530....time to pull the trigger.
  16. My HP 500 is also not working since updating Windows 10pro. Updating not installing. Worked fine till I updated the version of Win 10 Pro. It was required to run other software being used. Trust me when I tell you I’ve tried everything to get it to print (PDF’s) to no avail. I build computers so it’s not a lack of experience.
  17. I would think if it were a font issue, it would screw up on every page. Of the 12 page set, it's one page. BTW, this particular model was done in version X11, I started it with X11 so I didn't bring it into X12. Which I will just for S&G once the project is finalized. Or maybe just backup entire plan, open with X12 and see if it messes with that one page. Process of elimination to a problem however takes time. Is it worth it for something I've have never encountered since Ver 9. Hummm. If it continues, then perhaps worth the effort. For now we're good to go with the use of CA to PDF for that single page. Thanks again all, stay safe and healthy. Doug
  18. Well thank you everyone, I used CA to PDF for that one page, all else I used Acrobat DC. We're good for now just to get the job out the door. If I figure out why just one page wasn't printing correctly, I'll post the reason/cause.. Thanks and stay safe, Doug
  19. Thanks all. I'll try it. I just don't understand why after using Acrobat/DC for all my Cad printing for as long as I can remember with no issues, and one page it won't print correctly. Has to be the way it's reading the files during conversion. Oh well, I'll give Chief PDF a try, after all it's one page. Thanks again and stay well. Doug
  20. I always print to Adobe Acrobat DC virtual printer. Today I got an email from my engineer and said he couldn't read the dims or text on a few sheets of the set sent to him. Couple pages aren't printing as expected. See attached. They are fine in CA....As you can see the Dims and Text are all screwed up. Updated drivers etc. etc.. Acrobat is up to date. CA is up to date. It's just a couple pages this is happening to in an entire 12 page set. The floor plan pages. Any insight or know of a fix is appreciated. Thank and stay well, Doug
  21. Isn't there a tool where we were able to touch on an object and it would switch to that particular layer. Not the CAD tool where you have to open it and select the layer you want to draw on. Same concept but a tool specifically for doing this. Yes I want CA to switch to selected layer just by selecting an object residing on the wanted layer. I though we had this. Or am I thinking AutoCad. Thanks Doug
  22. IS THERE ANYWAY, PERHAPS A MACRO TO HAVE THIS VERTICAL GATHERING LINE (WHAT I CALL IT) INSERTED AUTOMATICALLY WHEN TEXT EXCEEDS MORE THAN ONE LINE? OTHER THAN USING THE LINE COMMAND, THEN MAKING SURE IT'S ON THE TEXT LAYER. WOULD BE NICE AS A CHECK BOX WITHIN TEXT DEFAULTS. (Sorry bout the caps)...See attached.
  23. Right in Front of me, no wonder I didn't see them... Thanks again Glen...must be a Helen Keller thing. With every upgrade they either change or move the furniture.
  24. Thanks Glen, must have been a brain cramp...after how many year and I forget that.
