If you send your view to layout using plot lines with color fill, there's another trick you can use. Use the 'Delete Surface' tool in your vector view to delete the screens/glass panels. When you send it to layout, the color fill will remain even though the surface has been deleted. I think it's a bug, but I use it to my advantage!

Levis, this is a cool trick.  Glad you figured it out.   Thanks!!

  2. Can you look at the. plan I sent and give me the solution for the floor sticking out of the roof in the bonus room area?  I have checked and the room is an attic room and the roof plane is at the correct height.  I did notice that the metal roof wasn't connected to the shingle roof but the floor still was there when I connected it.  Thanks!

  3. I am helping on a job someone else started and found something that is  confounding me.  On the foundation plan all that is showing is the footings.  I have tried to select the walls and the selection tool can't grab anything.  The layer doesn't seem to be locked.  I have rebuilt the foundation and that didn't work.  It is supposed to be 8" Stemwall and show the layers for the walls.  Has anyone ever come across this before?

  4. Thanks so much, you have solved this problem for me. As suggested, I went into the wall type dbx and selected the drywall in the wall layers.  I was able to change it to the 4x12' version, easy peasy.  Never knew this was an option.

  5. Just wondering if anyone else has been receiving these inquiries.  Over the past few years I am getting emails (at least 7-8) that start off asking if I provide Architectural Drawings for residential plans.  I let them know that I am a draftsperson and give them information regarding my services.  Here are the last 2 examples.  I have pretty much just blown them off because I think it is a scam situation that is somehow trying to get my personal information and perhaps access to my financial information.  They all seem to word it about the same.    What are your thoughts?? Anyone else having similar experiences.

    Hello,

I am Fred .. Do you do Architectural Drawing and Designing for proposed new building also do you accept credit card for the payment?

I reply that I am a drafts person and draw plans in so many words.

Okay I want it to be to two Story, My budget is $2,000,000. i wish to start June and spend  12-14 months 6000 sqft lot size. Six Bedroom, with 2 living rooms per suite, 2 living rooms in total. Foyer, Master suite, playroom, kitchen, kitchenette (small cooking area), laundry room and Garage. With access to the Living space from Garage (possibly a mudroom entry) Master bedroom can easily be connected to a mudroom as well so as my  bungalow plan would  you put 3-4 Bedrooms downstairs and 2 Bedrooms up.

2nd email I received today from someone else.  This one gave an actual address. You can tell that English doesn't seem to be his native language.  Not that that is a problem as a number of my clients are from other countries and have difficulty expressing themselves in English.  We work it out with pictures and and they bring family members that speak English most times.  But when it is put together with multiple fishy emails, it gets my radar up.

  6. Me Again!!!  Another question because you folks are so very helpful.  My client would like to use 4x12' instead of 4x8' sheets of drywall.  Is there a way to change this in the defaults so that Chief Architect would calculate this size for the materials list?

  7. Anyone else having this difficulty.  I have had difficulty pasting a picture from Snip and Sketch and a wall from another plan that was created in x12.  Never had any problems in x10 doing what I am trying to do.  I have tried control C, Control V, and using the actual copy tool in chief architect when I select the wall.  The paste options aren't available (grayed out)  Any suggestions.

A little more information.  I went to a different plan and copied a wall and was able to paste it into the current plan.  Then I went back to the original wall I wanted in the other plan and was able to copy it and paste it in the current plan as well.  What the heck????

  8. Another 12x problem where I could use some help. Seems to be a problem with identifying the floor that is being referenced in the layout.  Anyone have the solution?

This is whatI want and what I sent to the layout:
