  1. Thanks Brett, This is more like what I was seeing in the discussions I mentioned. I may have to use something like this if the client isn't happy with the square cut mentioned earlier doesn't work for the client.
  2. Sorry for the delay in response. I think this is what the client is wanting. I will do it this way to show him. I had forgotten this option. Thanks!
  3. I have seen some posts where the solution is discussed. It involves the use of shadow boards. Has anyone seen or made a video that would show me how this is accomplished?
  4. Kyle, I think I have plenty available space. Thank you for trying to help me.
  5. Mick, I done a few saves once I found the issue and they show up in the archive folder fine. Here a picture.
  6. Yep, followed the path and it went to the same data with only 2 files. I double checked other x15 work and it is doing the same.
  7. Can anyone help me figure this one out? I should have multiple archive files by now. I have been working on this plan for days. i followed the actual path to where the files are supposed to be filed, but there wasn't any difference in the contents.
  8. I found this one, but when I imported it it didn't have everything I was using in CA on my old computer. Is there anyway with in CA that I can find the location of the .calibz user file being used... perhaps in preferences or somewhere else? I think I may have imported it from somewhere else.
  9. I have migrated to a new computer and copied my x12 .calibz file to the new computer, I thought, but I find several symbols missing. I think I copied the wrong user file, I still have access to the old computer. Is there a place on Chief Architect where I can find the user .calibz file that the old computer is using?
  10. I must have accidentally turned something off. There is normally a red x that will appear when I am trying to align two walls on my floor plan. It would appear when I would grab one wall and drag it towards the other wall. Can anyone tell me how to turn it back on again? The picture shows a red x that I drew in to show what it used to look like. Thanks!!!
  11. Thanks guys. I have given your feedback to the builder.
  12. This is what I ended up doing. 1. I drew foundation for whole house as crawl space and built the floor framing. 2. selected the areas that were existing carport and shop and made those areas "floor suppled by room above, retain floor framing. also made them monolithic. 3. selected original part of house and made its floor "supplied by foundation room below". 4. Rebuilt foundation as stem wall with the option "slab at top of wall" selected. This seemed to work well enough for my purposes.
  13. Can anyone give me a hint on how they would go about using CA functions to build a raised floor over an exiting carport. The carport slab is 24 inches below the F.F.E of the house. There is an enclosed shop at the other end of the carport (all of this is under the same roof). Its slab is 20" lower than the F.F.E. The owner is wanting to build a raised crawlspace over the carport slab that will bring it up to the house level. he is going to change this area to a master bedroom suite. Thanks!
  14. Good idea. And I am guessing that I could use a curved roof plane,. I think I saw those in the available choices. BTW, love the adorable light house,,!
  15. Anyone come across this and have an answer. I guess I could always fudge it with a polyline solid, but thought I'd check to see if there was a way to do it with actual walls
  16. I turned off the trim against wall on the stairs. May be able to proceed from here.
  17. Hmmm, created a new wall type by copying existing and renaming it interior wall 6" , then I created a new normal wall layer and named it normal wall stair. Turned off normal wall stair and have the stringer showing blocking the view. Tried to turn it off on the stringers, but it is already off.
  18. Seems like a good idea. And I could keep the wall style pretty much the same, just copy and change the layer name.
  19. No I can ctrl x and cut doors, etc but I can't cut a wall they are selected.
  20. Ryan, Thanks for this. Only problem I am having is the CTRL+X of the walls. I select them with the shift key so that I get all 3 levels, but they won't cut so that I can paste them later. They can be deleted and that gives me a view to send to CAD detail, but the detail is deleted when I do CTRL+Z to undo everything. With CA being such an awesome software, seems like this should be so much easier.
  21. Seems like I knew this, but now I don't. I want to see the flights that are hidden by the walls. I know I can make the walls invisible, but then i have to go back and change them back and remember to not refresh the view. Any suggestions?
  22. Oh, didn't think of that. Thanks!
  23. David is there a way to get it so I can edit the manufacture's door? I haven't been able to before but thought I would check to see if you found a way.
  24. Thank you so much. I would prefer to keep working in x12 on this project until I build a bit more trust in x13.
