Syncing files is not an issue, just use OneDrive or DropBox, everything is taken care of. Not sure about your security concerns, you can always encrypt the files if necessary, but really who cares about a Chief plan file, what value would that be to a hacker? The net is never down, it's just your provider that is having technical problems, you can always use another network or tether to you cell provider to get access. If all of these people are all down together then I think there will be far greater thongs to worry about than working on a clients plan. Graham Graham

I never really use this so can't really say. Some users have indicated that you might get up to 10 days. Have no idea if Chief checks up on this after the initial activation. Would be advisable to do a hard save frequently just in case you get shutdown. Note if you close the program it will require full activation when you try to open it again. Graham

The User Library folder is not in the main Chief program directory. On a PC it is in the Document directory associated with the Users Directory. Not sure about a Mac. Graham

Take a look at the Logitech Anywhere mouse, very compact and will work on any surface, even glass table tops, no mouse pad required. Graham

As above or uncheck Bumping/Pushing, same thing. You can place any object anywhere, just be aware that there are times when the object may cause or behave not as expected. If for example there is a floor height difference on each side of a wall and you place an object that projects into that wall it's height from the floor may lock onto the other floor height. You may need to manually adjust the objects height from floor. Graham

Activate Chief on Computer A, go to Computer B and activate Chief. A dialog box will popup and tell you that Chief is active on Computer A, select deactivate online. Deactivate Computer A online, activate Chief on Computer B. Chief will now be active on both Computer A & B. Graham

Excellent advice !!! Do that all the time. Graham

What is the issue? Chief provides two methods to activate/deactivate, either via the internet or a hardware key. They permit under their single user license the installation of Chief on multiple computers. If you need to operate Chief simultaneous for short periods they allow for this even if you only have a single user license. If this does not meet your needs then you can purchase additional user licenses. What more do you want? What other similar level of software provides this amount of flexibility? Graham

I think I found what's going on. It has to do with your snap settings. Say for example you have just the center snap on only. If your cabinets original size is say 33" and you drag to reduce it's width it will reduce in 3" increments, however when you reach the center point of the original 33" cabinet it will snap to this which will be 16 1/2". if you continue to reduce it will then jump to 15" and then continue to reduce in 3" increments. Graham

Here's a pic. I changed the width back and forth, grid snaps are off, increment is 3", object snaps on. There are no other objects above or below the base cabinets. Graham
-
I have just played with this. I can get it to happen repeatedly. It seems to only occur when you have object snaps on. Place three cabinets and resize the width of the middle one. If you move it back and forth it will at times jump off of the 3" increment, you will also notice that a red square pops up, looks like the calculated object snap point. Graham

Dennis - have not had time to play around, just do as you do and enter the width into the DBX and move on. Graham
-
Confirmed. I have also noticed this. Graham

Have also had this from time to time, do same as Alan and it usually works the next time around. Believe this to be more an OS related issue, Copy/Paste, Copy, Cut and the Clip Board are OS routines. Programs just call on these to do the heavy lifting. If memory serves me correctly I think this anomaly started a year or two ago. I believe Microsoft introduced some additional security settings on this function due to it being exploited to insert malicious code. I have had similar issues with other programs, especially in my browser and e-mail. At times in my browser I will get a security warning that this function has been disabled for security reasons, this happens in this forum when using the Edge browser. Graham

Check the "Undo" level in Preferences. When I upgraded this was set at 50, usually have it at 10. Graham

Is this a Coincidence? Here last night two houses under construction blew off of their foundations. This is unheard of here, we rarely get winds over 40 mph. Graham

When you are in the "Material", "Properties" DBX, :Material Class" and you see " * Only Applies to Raytrace Views" you will most likely not get a similar appearance in your standard camera view. These materials require special functions built into the Raytrace program to properly display. One easy technique that does not require you to change the material is in the "Material Properties" change the "Material Class" to "General" or "Reflective". It should now have a better appearance in Standard View. You may also find that this setting will still give you a decent Raytrace. If not just set in back to it's original "Material Class", Graham -
Impressive - Results really show what those new PCL-e SSD's can do. Makes a regular SSD look like an HDD. Graham

Just be careful when interperting those system/component performance numbers. That #6 unit is heavily tricked out. You can use the Baseline options to locate and organize the comparative systems or it may be best to through-out the top two and bottom two to get a better picture, especially when one really jumps out way ahead of the pack. Excellent advice. There can be a lot of advantages, some not always obvious, by having a system/device consistency. Device to device file sharing/access and software for sure. If you are going to change over to another system such as PC to Mac then be aware that there are some differences that may or may not cause you frustration. One is that the Mac keyboard has a different layout than the traditional PC. If you are really big on function and hot keys you could find this awkward, especially if you are moving between your Mac and other PC's. Happened to my Daughter, real Mac fan but when she went out to work they were all PC Windows based. She really wanted to use her Mac at home instead of her work windows Laptop. They work with massive Excel spread sheets and use the function and hot keys for everything, it was way to frustrating to keep adapting those memorized key locations and movements, now her Mac sits virtually unused. Are you using a system with an integrated graphics chip. If so then toggle off "Show Shadows". Graham

I guess at that price you did not mind forfeiting the warranty by not using an authorized Porsche dealer. Graham
