  1. Thats what I need! Where do I go to get the custom muntins, I could not find them in the DBX
  2. Joe, The configuration would be the "window type" right? If I change that I will get what I need in the schedule, but I wont get the visual effect I am looking for. Mark, please let me know how to make it look similar The first two windows show what I need the casement to look like. The third shows what happens if I change it to a casement. The last example is how close I know how to get it to match the first two examples. Please dont make me bust out a polyline on everyone.
  3. This is my first elevator shaft period for me, so thank you very much on the advice, that is important to know because the elevator shaft is right next to an exit door and stair landing, and I might have to double check it I will have enough room if I make the walls thicker. When you say guide rail and entrance jamb, are you talking about the entrance jamb on the door openings of the shaft and a guide rail that houses the elevator wheels? It seems I would be able to find manufacturer information or even make details of those things relatively easily, is there some reason it would be challenging?
  4. That will make my schedule really large though wont it?
  5. Hi Chiefs, I have a house that is going to have windows that are going to be the same size, and have the same configuration of lites, but some are going to be single hung and some are going to be casement. When I change the single hung windows to casement, I loose the lite configuration I need. I just need the windows to be indicated as casement in the schedule description, and to show up as a separate window number. Is there a way to keep it a single hung window with the lite configuration and have it show up as a different window number which I can change the description of later? I guess I could set them to not display a label, then make my own call out labels for them, then turn the schedule into a block (which I am doing anyways) and then manually enter the information in another row. But it seems like there is an easier way. Thanks!
  6. It is going to be a wood framed building. We are using a shindler elevator rated for 2500 lbs. the detail on their specs shows a sliding door.
  7. Thanks for the reply Mr. Page, but all of the rooms are set to Open Below already.
  8. Hi Chiefs, I am working on this elevator shaft for my project, but the floor finish is popping out at the floor line of one of the levels (see picture). It would not be that big of a deal but it is showing up in my elevation views and makes it look like there is a floor running across the shaft opening. Does anyone know what I might do to my wall / floor settings or something else to get rid of this little strip of floor? Thank you very much!
  9. This project was actually started by someone else and I am making edits on it. I did not realize that the pocket door was a problem until I was asked to center it. But it does seem like a slider door is more appropriate.
  10. Good call Mr. Page! Mr. Lackore: Thank you, thats what I thought was happening. It seems like I should be able to move it a little more because of where it shows the door panel, but I guess not. Thanks for the help guys!
  11. Hi Chiefs, I am trying to center this pocket door in my elevator shaft but it will not budge past this point. is there and setting within the pocket door that will not allow it to move within a certain distance from the end of a wall? Thanks!
  12. Thanks Gene, When I lock the top height and adjust the number of treads I can work toward a more manageable riser number. Unfortunately the floor height for one of my levels gives me a 7 7/16" riser. I wish there was a way to make it more manageable. The next closest incrimint is 4 3/4" riser but with 28 steps, which would mess up the design I have going
  13. I think if you hold down the Control key after you start to orbit it should stop when you release the mouse button.
  14. Hi Chiefs, I am building these stairs in the screen shot below. I want them to be to code, so I have the tread set at 10" and the risers at 7 3/4. I want the top of the stairs to be flush with floor finish (say that 5 times fast) but when I set my bottom and top height to the associated floor level, my riser height becomes too large. Can I lock my riser height to be a maximum number, then input my top and bottom height data, or can I lock bottom and top height values and adjust the riser height? Thank you!
  15. It looks like the baseboards are associated to the floor level of the room. Maybe go back and double check to see if the baseboards in that room have an offset value, or if in the structure settings of that room you have something strange going on with respect to the floor height.
  16. I think the stair tool is a pain too, especially if you are doing anything that is out of the ordinary. It must be very difficult to program because stairs are a pain in every 3d modeling software I have worked with. I do think alot of the character and overall feel in a house comes from the stairs so I hope someone in the software design community can figure it out soon. It is all part of the great modern conflict that is CAD software design. It seems to me ever since the advent of CAD design has suffered because the home designer has been pidgin holed by the constraints of the software. However it is continually improving on that front, I am sure in a decade this conversation will be completely different. "My hologram renders are not displaying shadows" Speaking of which, in the videos she has a little google cardboard thing next to her. Do you think the new version will be able to produce panoramic model viewing and walk troughs for VR head sets? That could be huge. Has anyone done that in X8?
  17. Hi Newell, If I understand correctly, when you apply the sky or background, it is not always lined up with your terrain the way you would like. I think one solution would be to move your perspective closer to the house, and use the 3d mouse orbit camera (default hotkey Shift+A) to get it just how you want. You can see that in the first examble the terrain is not oriented to the backdrop at all. In the second one the perspective is closer, but the terrain does not line up properly with the model. In the last example the perspective is tilted to look down on the building and the backdrop as well. It might pass if it had a different terrain color. Hope this helps, good luck!
  18. Larry thank you so much for your help and the awesome video. I used the match property method with all the rooms on the top floor and that totally fixed my problem in the kitchen!!! The reason that those rooms have different floor finish values is because on the as built they are all just osb, so i deleted the finish layer. I dont know but I guess I just assumed the second floor had the same ceiling and floor values, I could have sworn I made them all equal. But in any event you answered my question and I salute you for it. Thanks!
  19. Hi Chiefs, So in the project I attached there is something weird happening in the kitchen. I want my ceiling to be flat at the level of the beam that runs across the middle of the room. You can see in the screen shot. that part of the second level is protruding into the kitchen. The floor and ceiling heights in both are set where I want them (I think), 8'10 high ceiling in the kitchen and 7'8 in the rooms on the floor above. It seems that the problem is not really related to the floor height. If you change the ceiling height in the kitchen the protrusion from above will follow. Truthfully i just need the ceiling plane on the project south part of the room to be the same height. If anyone has some time, can you please open up my plan and let me know what you think the problem might be? I have been muddling through this for some time now and do not have any answers sadly. Thank you so much! AB JAMES_-PROPOSED_2_-_11-9-16.zip
  20. Ok great I will look for them now, thank you!
  21. Oh ok, sorry I misunderstood about the vent stuff. I will definitely take time to organize the library, and I am really intrigued by the Object toolbar, how do I get there? I just looked on the support page for information about it but it is just showing me stuff about the "Place Library Object" tool, which I am assuming is different.
  22. Yoda, see I do. When you use a vent symbol it is locked as a vent but you can change windows to be "vents" do you know if you can apply some kind of louver over the window opening to create something that would visually pass as a vent? Usually I like to avoid the library whenever possible. It takes a lot of time to load and to find the object you are looking for. If i can do it all from my window tool that would be easier I think.
  23. Thanks Mr. Page, I am going to have to put you on the payroll pretty soon. That is what I needed. David, thats just how I thought to do it and it never became an issue until now, you cant get the look of the screen on the vent (at least not as far as I know) and the windows show up in the schedule which you dont always want. However you could do a window schedule from the foundation floor only and you could have a vent schedule that way. So I dont know.
  24. Hi Chiefs, Is there a crawl space vent tool, and if so where do you go to find it? I have been using tiny windows for a while now but I was told there is an actual tool for it so I want to use that. Thank you!
