  1. @ Jay on Cape: You have hurricane areas too, which adds to horizontal loads. I have done 14 Extra Mart gas stations on east coast and 1/2 in your state. Last project Building official had issue with truss manufacturer and loads due to it being hurricane area. All worked out but it was a "NAIL BITER".
  2. This plan was done in ver 9 also. Yes Mr. Hall roof trusses are being used as backfill, lol. Pretty easy a fix and still pleased. Edit: Mr. Hall, 7 minutes to fix backfill trusses. =)
  3. Add interior casing to O.H. doors and blending color goes away.
  4. I had to call tech dept too on same issue and fix with "failure message". My failure was caused by a downloaded library add on in the "users" folder.
  5. This plan has that room design. Sherman St House 10-12 garage roof pitch test.plan
  6. Be sure to define room definition behind knee wall as "attic".
  7. My area in the thumb of Michigan 90 mph wind load. Ground snow load 35 lbs.
  8. Plan designed 10 yrs ago. I opened it today because home owner FINALLY wants to build and once again I have little tuning to do for it to be ready for customer. THANK YOU CA. New House-One Story Back-up #3.plan
  9. Wind loads and Uplift governs here in Michigan too. Not too many earthquakes in this area. Really like this idea Joe.
  10. Gang pile on Shane, lol. My way was correct too, sorry I didn't detail EVERY ASPECT. We have to let the person posting thread play too. This forum is a HOOT!! I respect ALL of your advice to me and others.
  11. You can attach plan file by clicking on "reply to this post" and attach plan file. MAKE SURE THAT FILE IS NOT OPEN IN CHIEF, or no data will be attached to file.
  12. Joists are parallel with roof slope in my reply with attachment. But you are a guru, so you must be right. I say that with much respect.
  13. Thank you CJSpud. It's all about understanding the the program.
  14. I want house roof plane to bear on house exterior wall without having a heal added to a truss. I want to use common 10/12 truss on house with a hand framed porch with a 4/12 pitch roof plane and keep porch same ceiling height as house plan. Cross sections should explain it.
  15. Select build frame, not general in your framing icon.
  16. Go to framing, select general, select roof, select build roof framing. I made no changes in your plan and it framed your way. I had to delete your roof framing and I changed joist to steel.
  17. Thanks for looking at this.
  18. I messed with that for an hour last night. I would love to see someone do it in the simple plan I posted. Method of building house & porch this way is VERY COMMON. Manual roof plane is fine if that is how we need to do it. Move Base line in and it jumps house roof baseline higher than default "top of wall height".
  19. Settings to auto build porch with same ceiling height as house, 10/12 house and 4/12 porch just like cross section I attached. I did it "manual roof planes" method. TY

    10 to 17

Damn fat fingers. I recently upgraded from 10 to 17 and my winter project was a 14,000 sq. ft. addition to an existing 6,000 sq. ft building that I did on ver 10. It was a joy to open it in 17, only 2 missing files.
