Thank you for this list!! Where would I go in the software to locate this list and does CA notify users of changes in this list? -
Beyond thrilled to learn this!!!!
(Excerpts from Tech Radar)
The most important thing to know about what Apple is doing with its A17 Pro chip is that the ray tracing hardware in it won't be limited to that chip.
With the Apple M3 chip due out next year, it will almost certainly have a ray tracing-capable GPU built in. This has a lot of potential, not just for the best Mac games, but also for all kinds of creative workloads the Mac brand has long been known for.
…..Apple's hardware is rock solid when it comes to the technical aspects, especially if it adds ray tracing into the mix. It's also the kind of hardware that would be much easier for game developers to optimize for, so it has a lot of things in its favor. As always with Apple, though, it remains to be seen if developers will start to bite on the hook Apple's throwing their way.

Here is the plan - testing upper and lower cabinets to price accurately for future plans. My best guess is it seems chief is only calculating for 25" of cove molding. I like the idea of CA rounding up to the next foot, but would really like to see an accurate price of 3' @ $4.70 foot showing a total of $14.10 instead of showing $9.80.

Chief is automatically measuring the crown molding and displaying it in 'feet' rounded up.
Thanks for that bit of information. My apologies for not communicating clearly about the incorrect total needing to be fixed. I incorrectly thought by changing the feet to lineal feet it would correct the inaccurate total.

I did notice your Total Cost seems to be incorrect.
Yes - not sure how to fix the incorrect total. My apologies for not communicating clearly about the incorrect total.

what are you trying to do?
My volume was not calculating correctly and I was advised to change to "interior dimensions" in your schedule, instead of "standard dimensions", as they thought the "volume" calculation uses interior numbers. -

Curious if 'Interior dimensions' is available in X12?
I can only find area, interior (sq ft) which returns no valueDo you know the macro for 'Interior Dimensions' so I can enter it manually. I tried using %room.area.interior% but it doesn't return any value.

How did you get a reported value for volume? Was it a predefined macro? Are you including a macro in a custom field that is reporting to the schedule in columns to include? Or was there a volume column to include?
Created a Note and then >Note Specification >Object Information >Custom Object Fields >Custom Field: Volume >Field Value: %room.volume%
CAD >Text >Text Macro ManagementRoomVolume - (internal_area * (ceiling_elevation - floor_elevation) ).to_cu_ft
Copied the RoomVolume per the KB article and created this:
roomVolumeRounded:vol = internal_area * (ceiling_elevation - floor_elevation)
vol.round(2)
Went back to Note Specification and addedRoom Volume Rounded with a field value: %roomVolumeRounded%
Gives me an #Evaluation Error# -

anyway to get the volume to round up?
I found this CA KB-01897 article but I can't get it to work... -

It has no number because it's not linked to that schedule, likewise with the Volume column.
If you select the Note there's an Edit button on the bottom toolbar to "Create Note Schedule from Note" - that'll make one that inherently includes that Note type.
That schedule should have a Volume column to include (so long as you added one to the selected note)
Thank you! Now to figure out why the volume isn't calculating correctly??? Is there anyway to get the volume to round up? I'm clueless.

supporting the cause
Yes! Nothing better than established, consistent standard inputs, and clarity to reduce confusion.I liked your request, thanks for suggesting it.

it appears you are still using X12
Yes I am -

Yeah, technically all schedules are the same. A "note schedule" is just set to include notes by default. Custom Schedules are just not set to include anything automatically so you can do whatever you want with em.
Thank you, I created the Note and it doesn't seem to be linking to my custom schedule, the note doesn't show a number and their is no field for the Volume in the schedule. -

Thanks, is a custom schedule the same as note schedule? -

Open a Note spec
Do you mean the Callout I created? If no, I'm sorry I don't understand what a Note spec is. -

I've used a customized note type and a customized note schedule. I kept the actual note on a layer that did not display in my con docs.
My apologies, I'm not understanding. How do I make a custom note schedule? -

If you open the deck room and make sure "auto rebuild deck framing" is turned on, then you shouldn't have to rebuild it every time you make a change. Can't remember if X12 had any bugs where you needed to force a manual rebuild even when it was turned on, but I know this has happened to me before (but it's been a while).
Thanks!

Using X12
Looking to get the %room.volume% in a custom Room Schedule. My callouts for this Room Schedule have this macro: %room.schedule_number%.
The room label defaults are this:
%room.dimensions%
Finished Ceiling Height: %room.height.ceilingfinish%
Room Area: %room.area.standard%
Room Volume: %room.volume%
How do I get the %room.volume% from the label default in this new custom schedule? The Schedule Specification Columns does not provide a Room Volume option. -

Ray tracing on a Mac? It's coming!

Rene, I highly value your insights and expertise! I'm wondering, what are your thoughts on the recently released M3 MacBook Pro Max with RTRT capabilities? I'm not well-versed in path tracing; could you enlighten me on whether it's typically done with CPU, GPU, or both? I'm also curious about why achieving this on a Mac might be challenging. Lastly, could you explain the distinction between path tracing and RTRT and whether it makes a significant difference in Chief Architect Premier rendering?
