  1. This works differently in X7 than it did in X6. I print from plan view all the time and save to PDF. It's a really fast way to print a simple plan view of the 'current view'. The 'current view' is exactly that in X6 - the view in your screen. Like below. But in X7 it doesn't print the current view. It's always way too big as if it's ignoring the command - that used to work in X6. Here's the exact same view and the exact same plan but different view sizes.
  2. Try it Dennis, will take 5 mins tops. I think it works fine but maybe I don't understand your question. You, of course, have to start them individually but they queue up fine and RT one after the other. Again maybe I don't understand what you're saying.
  3. Yes you can have RayTraces in a queue and when one is finished the others will start, do it all the time. Try 3 or 4 RT's with a 2 or 3 pass limit and watch them RT one at a time till all of them are finished
  4. I think this used to work differently in the recent past but I'm printing a simple 8.5 x 11 PDF and when I select current view I get nothing even remotely resembling the current view in the print preview window - thought I used to. The problem is it takes many trial and error attempts to get the print size to fit the page properly - a little crazy making. It's not plan specific as near as I can tell but I'll post the plan anyway. Here's a couple of screens shots. Here's the actual 'current view'... and here's what I get from the PDF preview. pdf problem 1.plan
  5. I think that's very cool. It looks like each window has a different texture - is that so? Or did you change the orientation? Or??
  6. Yup that was it. Never knew that was even there. Thanks Glenn
  7. Perry, No lines because the soffit option was unchecked. Thanks so much for taking a look.
  8. Can't figure out how to get the soffit line to disappear across the entire section view. Probably simple http://screencast.com/t/By8mnuqutQ Plan Attached TJI ROOF 1.plan
  9. Hi Sherry, Hope this vid helps. Not hard to get as far as I got and you could add more detail as needed. http://screencast.com/t/4fnW8C6ts
  10. It's really easy and would answer your question quickly and efficiently. I'm done till you do.
  11. Happens all the time when a wall looks connected but is not. Check every connection or as Tommy suggests with room def.
  12. Thanks Gene, Will probably proceed exactly as you have suggested.
  13. Thanks Johnny, Will probably use the detail posted by Gene above but as far as modeling I think I worked it out with auto-framing with 9 1/2" TJI's which creates a fascia, though too large because apparently Chief won't trim to the sub-fascia using TJI's. Then I pulled each rafter/joist back to the bearing wall and manually placed the sistered rafter members which butt to the fascia which was now the proper (sub fascia measurement) size after the TJI had been moved back. That last bit pleasantly surprised me.
  14. I need to frame the roof with 9 1/2" TJI's but want a 2 X 6 rafter tail to match existing construction. I was trying get Chief to 'notch' the TJI down to 2 x 6 but I'm guessing this won't happen from the experiments I've tried with different roof framing members. Usually Chief will take the sub-fascia measurement and apply it to the rafter tail and size it accordingly, leaving the main rafter at the specified size. It seems to only work with 'Lumber' and not 'I-joists'. I guess you would use a sistered on framing member if you wanted to change sizes and wouldn't cut an I-joist in the real world. Maybe Chief is that smart? I was trying to do a quick roof framing plan, but looks like will have to add sistered member manually which is what I was trying to avoid. Curious.
  15. That's what I'm thinking too. What might we be missing Joey?
  16. ...and I forgot to mention I printed from a PDF file so no problem here with that file. I know that doesn't help much - hope you get it sorted. Did you contact tech support?
  17. Joey, Didn't that require selecting each item and changing the color in Layout View? And wouldn't those changes be lost if you updated the Layout View? Truly curious as to your work flow, and it seems the new tool adds quite a bit of ease to the process. Am I mistaken?
  18. I opened the Layout and printed on my Brother 6490. See attached
  19. Don't know what poly only screen entities are??
  20. Am I safe in assuming you/he has a left handed mouse?
  21. I'll try that out Scott - love my hot keys so shouldn't be too much of a stretch to learn.
  22. Here's the very definition of OT. Read the first post - then the last. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/3542-x7-availability-for-ssa-users/
