Create a space that inspires you like this eccentric and quirky kitchen. In Chief Architect, you can design spaces in any style from modern and clean to the classic English kitchen and everything in between. This space was inspired by #deVol and their Peckham Rye Kitchen Design. As deVol puts it, “If luxe and bohemian can be used together, then it is the perfect description for the Peckham Rye Classic Kitchen. A crazy mix of beautiful bespoke cupboards, ugly marble, and collections of stunning art and pottery.”

  7. We've been working with Blue Collar Builders TV, creating small home designs in a variety of Architectural Styles. These houses are meant to create opportunities for property owners in Paradise, CA to rebuild after the devastation of last year's Camp Fire. Browse this gallery of plan variations in Coastal, Cottage, Craftsman, Farmhouse, Modern Mountain, Federal Saltbox, Colonial, Victorian, and Tuscan themes. If this is a project that interests you, reach out to Blue Collar Builders TV and see how you can participate. Learn more about the project in this blog post. Another bird's-eye view, this time illustrates the spaciousness that can be gained by added a few feet and some loft space in the Option 2 floor plan. Even though the head height is low upstairs, there is plenty of room to take advantage of a multi-use space like this. Chief Architect's navigation and 3D rendering tools, along with extensive downloadable catalogs make it easy to see for yourself how a space can be used and lived in, before construction ever begins.

In this bird's-eye view, we took the floor out of the attic spaces so you could peek through to see the floor below. I like to imagine the family dog and kids running laps around the circular passageway upstairs. Of course, if that sounds unappealing, some doors could be removed from the design so it is customized for other lifestyles.

Option 3 intentionally leaves most of the attic space unfinished to create an opportunity for home owners. Once the lower floor is completed, it will be move-in ready. The home owner can circle back around later to create 2nd floor livable space on their own terms.

A bird's-eye view gives a bigger picture to help imagine what it might be like to live in, and move through, this small home. This version's roof doesn't offer space for a loft area like some of the other architectural styles, but it does allow for high ceilings in most rooms and a functional, casual space that makes a small house feel bigger. This view can be easily created in Chief Architect using the Full Overview Camera. We made a new layer set to be used in the camera view that turns off the display of the roof components and ceiling surfaces so we can peek inside the space. The Watercolor Rendering Technique, with Line Drawing turned on, gives this image a more artistic look instead of striving for photo realism.

On the second floor, this overview depicts a home that only needs 3 bedroom spaces. The forth space makes a perfect office for working from home.

The first floor bird's-eye view illustrates how this interpretation of the floor plan reserves the main level to common or public spaces.

I feel like this bird's-eye view does a great job of capturing the Modern Cabin's livable space.

Bold and whimsical, the Victorian style home is 'done up' with gingerbread details from toes to tip. Chief Architect offers custom assignments for roof trim like shadow-boards and frieze-boards, and railing accents for posts, panels, and newels. We also set up dramatic window trim to capture a hint of the details that can be included in a Victorian house.

This modern take on a cabin pairs lots of open space and large-pane glass windows with traditionally rustic exterior colors and materials. The shed roof cozies up with a steep gable further pairing the styles. Chief Architect's Roof Beam tools are an easy way to add beams to a project. They are smart objects that recognize roof planes in the proximity and can be updated to fit the roof as the design adapts and changes, as they are prone to do.

Option 5 has a full height 2nd floor over the bedroom side of the design only. This creates opportunities for vaulted ceilings over the living spaces, making the living area feel big while maintaining 'small house' square footage. This option provides the possibility of 4 bedrooms with 3 full bathrooms. We created two styles using this floor plan, a Federal Style Saltbox and a Modern Cabin.

Option 4 of the Paradise Rises project includes a finished half story above the standard floor plan. We included dormers suited to different architectural styles to make use of the attic space. This illustration shows the layout available with the Craftsman style dormers, you can see the full selection of plan variations under the Paradise Rises project on our Samples Page.

You'll notice that floor plan Option 3 and Option 4 for the Paradise Rises project are quite similar. Both are a story and a half with matching structural walls and feature livable attic space. The attic in Option 3 has been left mostly unfinished. This creates an opportunity for a home owner in Paradise, CA, to rebuild a livable space for themselves with cost savings by not immediately finishing the upstairs. Once they are prepared to complete the project, residents to can choose to wrap it up on their own accord. Review the full design set to see how the attic spaces differ between architectural styles due to the location and placement of dormers.

Option 2 in the Paradise Rises project is just over 1200 square feet on the main level. This home was made 2 feet wider than the other options to offer bigger bedroom spaces and more room for a loft area over the bathrooms and mechanical room. The loft's size and headroom varies, depending on the architectural style chosen for this plan option. Most styles also provide accessible attic space that can be used for storage and to house some of the mechanical systems for the home. You can see each of the styles for Option 2 on the Samples Page under the Paradise Rises project.
  22. From the album: Paradise Rises - Home Styles

Option 1 is the smallest and most simplified floor plan variation. Coming in right at 1,200 square feet, an open living space flows through 1/2 of the structure, a feature typical to all the plan options. Also included are two baths, a front porch. Variations to the plan are available with choices on fireplace vs. gas insert, flex room use, and depending on the style's roof line, a possible storage or loft space over the bathroom areas.
