  1. James, Thanks for the question. We don't have an archive of past Newsletters. We do publish the current newsletter on the web. This link will always display the most current newsletter. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/company/newsletters/ Kind regards, Derek Pedersen Chief Architect Software
  2. Thank you for the question. Yes, you can install Chief on more than one of your computers. You are limited to launching the software on one computer at a time. You can switch between your computers as frequently as necessary. Here is a tech article that explains how the process works to switch between computers. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00956/installing-chief-architect-on-multiple-computers.html Kind regards, Derek Pedersen Chief Architect Sales
  3. Thank you for the question. Using raytrace rendering for video walkthroughs are not generally practical. Since video requires 15+ frames per second, you would need a minimum of 30 raytrace renderings for just 2 seconds of video. If a raytrace takes 10 minutes (this is a low number) it would take 5 hours or rendering time to create just 2 seconds of video. The good news is that X10 has a new rendering feature called Physically Based Rendering (PBR). This new rendering technique is much closer to the quality of raytrace and it is a realtime rendering technique, so it can be used for creating video walkthroughs. Here is an example video using the PBR with a video walkthrough. Pay special attention starting at :39 seconds into the video and again at 1 minute. This will give you an idea of the quality that is possible. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10190/accessible-kitchen-bath-project-walkthrough.html Kind regards, Derek Chief Architect Software

  19. Good day everyone! Thank you to everyone for your interest in the new Chief Architect X10 beta. We’ve received a lot of inquiries about upgrading and thought it would be helpful to clarify exactly which SSA members are eligible to upgrade to X10 during the beta period. Customers with SSA valid through February 15, 2018, can download the Chief Architect X10 beta from their Digital Locker. February 15 is the official scheduled release date for X10, so those with SSA or software rentals that are valid through this date qualify for the X10 beta version. For some SSA members who pay monthly or for those with a software rental agreement, this may mean that you will not have access to the x10 beta version or X10 until your next scheduled payment that brings you through the February 15th official scheduled release date. If you have questions or aren't sure about the status of your SSA, please contact Sales at 208.292.3400. See new features in X10 here: www.chiefarchitect.com/whats-new/ Thank you, and we hope you enjoy X10! -Chief Architect Sales

  23. Thank you for the question. Chief Architect will calculate a materials list. It does not supply the regional pricing, so you would need to input the unit pricing value and then the materials list will calculate the total costs. There is an option to show a labor column in the materials list that you can assign a labor cost to for each item that displays in your materials list. You can also add a labor cost to individual objects such as windows, doors, etc. (in the objects "Component" dialog box). Then the labor is added automatically when you place the object in your plan. Feel free to contact our Sales Department if you have any questions about how this works. You can email sales@chiefarchitect.com or call 208-292-3400. Kind regards, Derek Pedersen Chief Architect Software
