Bathrooms often look pretty similar; white fixtures, predictable layout. Adding a few details can make them memorable. Here, style-inspired accessories and colors play a role, and a full length shower niche to serve as a shelf is different from what you would normally expect to see. Niches like these are just another tool available in Chief Architect's interface. They offer quite a lot of flexibility for customization.-

It would be fun to have a space for board games, crafting, or meditation in the loft area where one could quietly look over the rest of this peaceful living space.-

Inside the cottage style, we used PBR views to bring the kitchen to life. Soft teals, blues, and whitewashed wood, paired with glass cabinets and quaint accessories make this kitchen ready for baking and the homey smells of bread and cookies. A simple ladder to the loft can be seen behind the island.-

To create a sweet and inviting cottage roof, we used Chief's automatic roof tools to generate a hip roof over the house. Over the loft, we created a Half-Hip Roof (not shown), to make more head room and wall space for a window. We defined shutters for the window defaults, and specified decorative newel columns for the default railings on the porch. We dug through the historic colors offered in the downloadable Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore catalogs to help us choose appropriate colors for many of the home styles.-

From the doorway of the front bedroom there is easy bathroom access and even space for a built-in bookcase in the hall between. To create the interesting shadowing effect in renderings like these, we ensure that a Sun Angle is defined, and check our Lighting Sets for different light sources. -

We took a very modern approach for this cabin and filled the interior with mid-century modern elements and clean white finishes. A home owner building this design as part of the Paradise Rises project could take a more rustic direction, or even very neutral casual inspiration would work well in the space. Exposed woodwork on the stairs could be expanded to include exposed beams over the living area. These interior design modifications would be easy to play with using Chief Architect's Home Designer Software product line; a desktop software package developed especially for DIY home projects.-

The living room offers a peek to the upstairs living area via the stairway. The glass panel railings and open concept design create a mechanism for the big windows on the first floor and the high shed windows on the 2nd floor to collaborate on the sharing of light and air between floors.-

The upstairs bedrooms have high vaulted ceilings and shed dormers to make room, allowing the big windows to invite lots of light.-

We took advantage of the extra space behind the bathtub to incorporate storage. To create custom storage furniture, just use the cabinet tools and modify the face items into any configuration you need.-

An end-to-end view of the colonial interior. We added ball-top newels and decorative balusters to the stairs, and even a period appropriate handrail, so it would really speak to the style. Elements like these are available from the Arcways Stairs downloadable catalog.-

The loft area creates a central space for the bedrooms upstairs. The open access to the living space through the stairwell allows everyone in the house to remain connected without feeling like you are up in anyone's business. -

Option 6 is large enough to provide extra family space in the form of a loft on the 2nd floor. For this house style, we put a balcony over the porch and front door, making this sunny room even more welcoming.-

We moved the door for the Colonial style house to the wide side, next to the fireplace, and kept the exterior features simple. A shed roof over the front porch, lap siding, and lintels over the openings are representative of the style. One could choose to be bold and add shutters to really dress up the exterior.-

From the front of the house, near the front door, we look all the way down the length of the living space. This version show an optional fireplace, creating a welcoming living room.-
