The Tuscan kitchen is quite traditional. We've included feature pieces like a Mediterranean wood ventilation hood and a curved front on the island's bar.

Warm, sturdy, fire resistant materials common to a Tuscan home made this style an obvious choice for the Paradise Rises project. Stucco on the main house is accentuated with natural stone on the wrap-around porch and fireplace. Tile roofing is a bow on top.

Room labels sometimes are not the best reflection of how a space can be used. In this case, we show a "bedroom" space utilized as an office. The addition of a futon, Murphy bed, or convertible sofa could make this office and easy guest bedroom.

Our content development team is continually developing new objects and materials to be used in renderings like these. Some catalogs that might appeal to this home's style include Country Primitives / Farmhouse No.1 and Country Primitives / Farmhouse No.2. Those aren't the only option though, the 3D Library features over 350 catalogs that can be downloaded to compliment your designs.

Making the island a different color than the rest of the kitchen cabinets is a design trick that can help make a kitchen look bigger and more interesting. Use the Material Painter's scoping options to control which components of an object or room you change when applying materials.

The second style we made for Paradise Rises Option 5 floor plan is a Saltbox style. "Saltbox" describes the roof design, which features an asymmetric roof that is higher on one side than the other. Saltbox configurations are common for the simple, Early American Federal style.

Kerry, our rendering specialist, did an amazing job decorating the Saltbox house's interior with simple but dramatic materials that make this quaint style beautiful and welcoming.

Interior design can be very subjective, however it is undeniable that this living space is as welcoming as they come. Adding pops of color through furniture and accessories can bring a simple basic white color palette to life. There are endless combinations of ways to personalize a space like this using furniture, accessories, and color. For those who have a hard time visualizing or making up their minds, using software like Chief Architect or Home Designer, or mobile apps like Room Planner and 3D Viewer the process can be less stressful and easier to digest.

This illustration of Option 3 is in the Farmhouse style, and is rendered using the Watercolor with Line Drawing Rendering Technique. We kept the look simple, like a traditional farmhouse, with white board and batten siding, white trim, and a standing seam roof. A combination shed and gable dormer adds livable attic space upstairs without overpowering the front elevation of the house. A small shed dormer (not shown) on the back creates headroom for additional living space. Using the automatic roof tools with specifications like 2nd pitch, gable wall definitions, and the Attic room type, the software was able to generate these roofs for us. We just adjusted a few overhand distances to polish it off.

The foyer space shares a wall with one of the bedroom spaces. For this option, the first floor plate height was lifted to 9', allowing possible room for transom windows. We set up the default window and door trim to include a custom lintel molding from the WindsorONE catalog, and also used matching base molding to create a consistent look.

These green walls begged for green hand glazed tiles behind the range. To create them, we used the custom material maker we've shared with our ChiefTalk friends. This tool offers an option to generate your own custom materials, complete with normal maps, that you can import and paint onto your own designs.

A traditional craftsman house, featuring shingled gables, lap siding, and a stone facade is not lacking in trim details. Not too fancy, the weighted lintels, exposed rafter tails, and horizontal trim separating the finishes are all typical exterior details for this style. We used the pony wall tool, molding polylines, automatic roof framing, and elements from the library browser to assemble the pieces into a cohesive design.

A craftsman interior is never shy on natural wood products. We didn't disappoint in this example. To add some variety to the project's floor plans, we also used the Reverse Plan tool in Chief Architect to automatically create a mirrored version of the layout. All of the dimensions are the same, but the effect is a quite striking way to offer a different perspective on a familiar design. Try it and see if your audience notices the trick.

Along with generating floor plans and decorating them, we provided video walkthroughs of the designs. You can tour this space via the walk through video that has been shared on Paradise Rises Facebook page.

This bathroom is upstairs, tucked into a dormer. You can see the adjacent roofs in the mirror reflections. Reflections like these can be controlled in the Material Properties, and displayed using camera specifications. PBR views like this one do a good job representing reflections in mirrors, and also reflections on shiny surfaces like counters, porcelain, and even metal. Other benefits of this rendering technique are high quality shadows and lighting, all combined with real-time rendering. This means you can navigation your scenes in front of a client or home owner and it will look as good from each angle.
