  3. You guys wanna throw out your ways of creating raised counters? Is there a vid on this? Thanks!
  4. yep, that worked. thanks, i was hoping it would rebuild it for me to make sure it was exact. but i got it.
  5. so the client changed the foundation on me after i completed the plans. not a big deal. went from a 4" mono slab to a raised 16" stemwall. now i am having problems running the new foundation. it creates the home but not the back covered porch or carport. all floor need to be 16" above grade. (2 blocks). any suggestions of what i'm doing wrong? Carl_Kristen_Wade3.plan
  6. any clue why my wall is missing? i have an 18" overhang that should have created it. Carl_Kristen_Wade3.plan

    framing

so i set up my framing defaults to 7.5" ridge and 5.5" rafters. it keeps framing to a 11.25" ridge and 9.25" rafters? why does it keep bypassing what i tell it too?

  13. that was it.......rotating and then new symbol, thanks
  14. very tricky. i tried to rotate in the symbol settings 90 degrees but it won't budge. where is that setting?
  15. cool guys, i was wondering if there would be some manuel work to do. thanks
  16. so i got my beam size like i wanted (2) 2x8's. but where can we change the posts to rectangular dims? i need 4x6 posts
  17. I have been pricing the laser measures. Dont you have to stick a target to the wall your shooting to (exterior walls).
  18. This is very true. I did an addition to a vetrinary business. Once the owner moves the business into the addition he wants me to come back and tear down and layout new walls in the existing building. What's cool is he is working out of a model home and had the floorplan so i added the existing interior walls already in the plans i delivered to him. All I have to do is a save as to a new file and reconfigure walls. No clue how to even charge for that its so easy lol.
  19. I, for one, did a cartwheel when i finally found out about story pole dims. When i first got chief a year ago, i thought those were manually drawn in from the examples i saw on the chief homepage lol.
  20. I have debated quitting additions and focus primarily on new builds. But the additions keep me going. I really don't like them though. I do bang out some good work on them if i take them.
  21. I hear ya! Most homes i do additions for the owners arent the best house keepers and measuring around their clutter for interior wall dims would drive me nuts lol. I am not bashing anyone who doesnt keep a clean house by the way, just saying.
  22. I charge by the addition square foot and site work so im actually adding more for free ONLY to make a better product and because chief is a speedy piece of software. I take pride in what i deliver and the whole project rendered looks awesome on the title sheet. Totally get your method too!
  23. Thanks! Exactly what i say. You cant just show one exterior wall that the addition ties into. Talk about incomplete and confusing as hell.
  24. One thing I forgot, i do not include any of the existing interior walls unless it ties into the addition somehow. I only draw the shell of the existing home with doors and windows.
