    Hey Joe,

Here's a pretty long winded video hoping to give you an idea or 2 for your template plan and saved section cameras.

Thank you Larry! This video is very helpful.
Im going to review it again this evening when things are settle down and I can concentrate. I'm sure I will have a few questions when I do.

One thing I do that is a little different from you is that I setup my libuary with catagories from every view instead of having so much on the screen. Since they made the Libuary so much better to except text without blocking it first and the upgrade in how the notes work, the Libuary is much more user freindly. I wish we could save section callouts in the libuary with all there layer settings, I think that would be very helpful.

    Again, thank you! Very helpful!

  2. Thank you for your time guy's.
I settled with the fact that what Im looking for has to be drawn in manualy. I went back and looked at previous drawing and I didnt see it in any of them. You would think it would add a ceiling joist up against the gable wall automatically but the simple truth is that is doesnt. Im not going to call the attic a floor becasue that will casue other issues. I also when back to X10 and it did the same thing.
I will stick with "KISS" and not try to make things more complicated.

This happened to me the other day when I was using floor trusses. I ended up adding the rim boards in manually and it worked great. Not sure why they didn't auto generate.

    Just now, joey_martin said:

You need to give that "attic" room a name and floor platform to get a rim joist.

I have seen the rim before and then there are times when I dont see it, so I must be doing something that Im un aware of. Does not make sense to not have that backing for the drywall.

Yes I think that will work.  If you have the saved camera in your template plan it should automatically populate your layout if you save the layout box in your layout template.

Unfortunately every single job I do seems to be very different from the pervious one so far, so I have not done that setup in my own templates.

You could PM @Kbird1 though and if he has time he could do some one on one with you since I think he understands that all very well.

When I open a new plan from Templates the cross section lines appear on the roof plan view. Im assuming that it will need to be linked with my new layout but I dont have a lot of time right now untill I get this plan complete but this gives me a start. I will mess around with it tomorrow some more.

Try making a Cross Section, Framing Layerset , and assign it as your Default Layerset for Cross Sections if needed or

just switch to it as needed once in the Standard CS View

Sure you can save section and elevation cameras in your template plan if you like and you can even keep the layout link if you really want to save time.  Works great if you do a lot of back to back projects that as somewhat similar.

The suggestion chopsaw made with saving to template works fine for now and so I really appreciate that. Im gonna have to make some time to figure out how to work the section views along with the layers. Im really confused but this information I think put me in the right direction. If there is a video somewhaere that someone can point me to it would help a lot or I might need to find someone that will do a one on one to show me. Paying for some help is definatley and option if it will save me some time.

    Thanks Guys

Yes 90% of the jobs that I do are the same.

So do I just unckeck SAVED CAMERAS when I save the template?
What do you mean by save the layout link?

  7. Anybody have any good insite or ideas for saving framing sections so I can use them in new plans with all the settings?

I alway use the cross section and then I have to change it to a framing layer section and then save it to its own layer I created so I have more control over it. It just seems like Im going through a lot of steps and Im not having any luck on finding a video or help on it.

    Any thoughts would be apreciated.

    Thank You

  8. Going from 10 to 13 is a pretty serious upgrade. There are definatley features that would help you but if it were me I never make a change just before I go into a big project if I'm on time restraint. You will need time to adjust to the new upgrade.
On the other hand, Im a slow learner and need the time and you may not if your a quick study.

For whatever its worth, thats my thought

  9. So the way I understand it, that if I save one of my customer plan files as a clean Template then I would not want the saved cad blocks in my new plan.

I am however going to save the cad details because I want the details to come from the same plan file. Things were getting to confused having the cad details in a separate plan file.

  10. Looking for a little advise to setup plan templates;

I know that when I save a plan as a template that I want to keep the "CAD Details" and not delete them but what about the "UNUSED CAD BLOCKS"? I don't really understand the "Cad Block Management" and how it works and I don't know if I need to.

Any help or suggestions to help me with setting up templates would help. Looking for wisdom from experience. Something that HELP wont give me.

    Thank You

I updated to Windows 11 again, and this time, everything works.  The newest NVIDIA driver seems to be the fix.

Im actually really enjoying windows 11 so far. I like it! Everything seems to be working good for me also.

The problem with Win 11, is if you have a 3000 series Videocard Joe .....  though some of use have issues with Win10 and even MacOs

Chief has now acknowledged that issue in their Known Incompatibilities .....

I believe my card is a 1070 if I'm reading it right in signature

Joe, are you using Windows 11 and X13 now?

    FYI,
I downloaded windows 11 yesterday and everything seems to be working fine so far with X13 and other programs that I have.

Just to be clear,   Are you using Windows 11?

I misread your last post so sorry if I confused you.

I am not using windows 11 yet. That's why I started this thread. I was afraid that is might cause complications and I cant afford to mess up my computer right now.

We have recently had to update our list of known incompatibilities to include a new section about Windows 11 and Nvidia Series 30 video cards.  I am not aware of any known problems with the GTX 1070 card.

Windows 11 with NVIDIA 30 Series Graphics

    • Products & Versions Affected: Chief Architect X13 and Home Designer 2022
    • Platform: Windows 11 with NVIDIA RTX 30 series graphics
    • Description: Software closes unexpectedly and then presents the following error: "An internal rendering error has occurred: device removed" typically when opening a camera view or a dialog with a preview window.
    • Solution: There appears to be an incompatibility between Windows 11 and the NVIDIA drivers. At this time, the best solution is to roll back to Windows 10. We are currently working closely with NVIDIA; however, an expected resolution date has not been set. If you'd like, you can contact NVIDIA Support as well. This will help them gauge how this issue is affecting their customers and may also give them an opportunity to collect additional information to help resolve the problem: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/support/consumer/

Yes, when I went through this I spoke to tech support at Chief and also to NVIDIA. I believe it was NVIDIA that asked me to disable the "Nahimic Service".
I spent countless hours on this and waisted a bunch of time doing
research. Disabling the "Nahimic Service" didn't seem to affect anything else on my system so I just gave up and stopped trying to solve the problem. I just disabled and moved on.

    Does this not work?

    Capture.PNG

No, we are talking about when you print. When you exclude it will still print it unless you exclude the pages in the print dialog box. The additional box would save having to enter the pages in the print dialog box.

Been hearing about this for a few months. Now I know where it is located. Gave it a shot, thanks!

Let me know if that fixes it. I would be curios about that.

I'm not so sure this would address the issue being discussed.  We can already control which pages get printed in the Print dialog and as has already been mentioned we can also exclude pages by setting to Use as Page Template.  What I think we really need is a Make Page Inactive checkbox that essentially just causes Chief to ignore the page entirely without breaking its link to the proper Template.  Ideally this would be available on Right Click from the Project Browser as well.

I'm basically saying the same thing but the way you say it may a better way to say it.
    Thank You

Me too......a lot of crashes in 3d views. Windows 11 came on the PC I got two week ago. I save constantly since "down time" is not an option to figure it out. Time is money.

Try disabling the "Nahimic Service" as per my last post and see if it corrects your problem.
