I have been playing around with a shadow or frieze board to achieve a molding along the roofline. However, now I have tried deleting it but it's still showing?
Chief file also attached. Thank you in advance!

@DBCooper and @mtldesigns thank you both for your help this solved the issues I was having!
I know this is minor, but I have noticed this happening before, the drywall interior layer / ceiling drywall layer showing through to the exterior just slightly. Any ideas?

You have your walls defined wrong open wall with window in it go to wall types move layer 1 to exterior layers by selecting layer 1 and click on move up
Hi Mark - thank you for your response. How do I keep the exterior surface where I "snap onto" when moving the wall etc? The little "node" moved to that layer now if that makes sense.

Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations on how to replicate a decorative molding piece that follows the fascia of this existing home I am re-drawing. I have found a similar molding that can likely work but wondered if there might be an easy way to replicate it? Would a 3D molding line or 3D solid work?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
Wondering if anyone would have any idea of why my floor / roof structure isn't showing in the 3D view / why the exterior classing isn't covering it.
I have never had this happen before. I'm not sure if it's because of the wall type I had to make for this project? See attached image / plan file.
Thanks in advance!

That was it.
Problem solved.
Thanks Humble Chief.
...and yes, they were polyline labels.
Always learning. Is there a way to make a "text label" only a certain % of transparent background?
I am trying to utilize the "text label" within the fixtures so it shows the fixture size when it changes size etc. I used to just use a text box and was able to set the transparency of the background colour, but it doesn't seem to be an option for "text labels"?
Fixture "text label" background solid
Fixture "text label" background transparent (100% default?)
No "text label" only a "text box", with setting the background to transparent 15%
thanks in advance!

Assuming that everything is a solid, then yes, you can make a notch. Basically, you build another piece for the notch using a solid, move it into the proper position, and then use the poly subtract tool.
Amazing thank you so much! @DBCooper

No insertion point for an arch. block. I'd suggest saving the block for future editing, but also converting to a fixture. Set the height reference 'From Roof', about -7" to top.
Then, it'll be pretty quick to place in roof peaks.
Thank you for your help @robdyck I will give that a try!
I have another question I'm hoping maybe you can help me with. I am trying to "notch" the bottom horizontal chord of this 3D solid. Is it possible to just notch 1/2 the beam depth instead of doing a "hole" all the way through? I know it's getting nit picky so if not it's not a big deal I will move the vertical member in front of the horizontal by 1/16". I'm just wondering so the 2 textures going vertical / horizontally aren't right on each other if that makes sense.

Hi there - I have made some custom "decorative gable timbers" as 3D architectural blocks. I wondered if there was a way to add an insertion point or have it insert connected to the underside of soffit. Otherwise I have been just inserting and moving in the z axis which is no problem but wondered if there might be an easier now that I am going to be sharing my library of blocks with some other co-workers.

Good morning,
I wondered if there was an easy way to do this sort of brick detail below the bay window shown in the attached image?
I was going to manually draw 3D solids / copy and paste in the pattern but wondered if there might be another way.
I don't do too many house with all brick / bay windows, so anything is helpful!
Thanks in advanced!

Hi Ange, I can't tell you why Chief does this but it's them, not you:) Some items simply don't rebuild or update when other items are adjusted or rebuilt. I would expect that if you moved back to your plan view, select a single material region, open / close without changing anything, the material regions should rebuild.
It's possible that only the selected material region will rebuild and if that's the case, then select all mat regions using the match properties tool, open / close with no adjustments, then go back to the camera view.
Another option in that camera view, would be to select the left wall, open / close with no adjustments.
Also, it's possible that F12 might rebuild them but often F12 doesn't rebuild these items in this type of scenario.
Hi Rob, that's great thank you very much! I will try F12 but open / closing properties does help!
Thank you for the quick reply! Maybe the issue will be resolved in a future version :).

Good morning,
I have been using material regions as battens for my board and batten siding, and it has been a game changer / time save to cut around windows (thank you @robdyck for that suggestion). However when in a 3D camera view, whenever I go to edit something / change a material etc., the material regions seem to disappear / re appear. Is it because I have them as blocks in different areas? I have taken a screen share video to show the battens disappearing.
Thank you in advance!

You can edit items in your user library by right-clicking on them and using the "open object" button.
But this won't help change the orientation of an architectural block. You will probably need to place it into a plan, explode it, rotate it, re-block it, and then save it back to the library.
1 hour ago, Alaskan_Son said:I was typing when @DBCooper responded so you'll get some redundant info here, but...
It depends on what type of object you're working with. If it's a single symbol, you can just:
- Right click on the object in your library
- Click Open Object or Open Symbol
- Click on the 3D tab
- Select the Z axis to rotate about
- Click the Rotate+ or Rotate- button a couple times to rotate 180 degrees
If its an Architectural Block, you'll probably just have to do as you described.
Thank you both for your responses. @Alaskan_Son Do you know if I can change the "insertion point" once I Rotate the option in the axis I need?
It seems to show on the plan view the same, but different in 3D if that makes sense?
Here is an example; you can see when I bring the object into the plan view, it shows it flat on the floor, but the 3D preview is correct.
thanks,
Ange

Hi there,
Is there a way to edit / update the saved objects I have in my user catalogue?
I didn't realize when first creating objects for my user catalogue that they need to be facing forward on the plan view to be visible on the 3D preview pane. I have attached 2 examples, 1 was saved on an angle on the floor plan, and then other facing forward.
I wondered if I could edit the object / rotate the plan view and it would update / save in my user catalogue so it would update the 3D preview to straight facing forward?
Alternately I think I would need to bring the object into the plan / rotate it / then create a new object / delete the old one?
thanks in advanced.

Install the Pet Door on the wall next to the door, open the DBX and adjust the size then copy and paste to your door (I found this works best in an elevation view). Also, be sure to adjust the size of the casing and uncheck 'Use Sill/Threshold' (Casing tab).
Good morning - I tried to do this, and it didn't work for me. Do you know if there is a way the dog door will actually cut a whole in the man door?
Thanks in advanced!

@solverkindly created a video to show how to do this, see the youtube link below;

Hello - I am wondering if there is a way I can create a Trapezoid shaped window. I found a similar thread but it was for a parallelogram shaped window.
I have been playing around with the "shape" tab in the window specification, but can not for the life of me figure it out! I have also looked at other threads to see if I can make a custom window but I could not find that either. I have shown in red what I would like the window shape to be;
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey @Ange822
This is an issue with PBR's refractions. I run into it all the time when I try to do a PBR on a room and have used 2D plants on the exterior. They won't show up through the glass. It's an issue @ChiefArchitecthas been asked about (at least from me); so I'm hoping for a solution soon. If you turn off 'refractions' in your PBR settings I'm sure it'll come through, but it won't look as 'nice and realistic'Thank you very much for your response! That fix would be amazing @ChiefArchitect! Thank you that did the trick!
I see what you mean about the plants not showing correctly, I have shown with / without refractions on, but the trees I use are 3D not 2D?
Refractions ON (trees show trunks / branches)
Refractions OFF (trees show the leaves realistically)
Refractions OFF (Flame visible behind the Glass!!)
thank you!!

Angela, those fire images are materials and have a transparency that do not show up in PBR views. I will typically put a thin 3D solid where the fire is located and paint it with the fire image material – like below. For a large fireplace like this one, I may use several 3D solids to make sure I have a good distribution of the fire. I’ll post both the vector and PBR to illustrate.
Thank you for your response - I played around, and realized that it does in fact work, however it is the piece of glass Infront of the flame that isn't translucent enough to show the flame behind it? Any suggestions on this? I ended up just removing the piece of glass for now. I tried playing with the properties of the glass but was unsuccessful. See attached imaged both in "physically based camera", I zoomed into the fireplace so you can see Infront / behind the piece of glass. Second image is the piece of glass removed completely.

Amazing thank you everyone for our input on this topic! I will look into Kuula! All the work I have seen looks amazing.
Does Kuula also edit lighting for the views? They seem very crisp. Here are some of the current 360's I am working on, still struggling with getting the lighting correct and perfect.
Starting to think it's my video card that needs updating?

Sure. Particularly with X15. Just keep track of the locations when you create your panoramas and then post a hotlink to the viewer in your plan view.
Thank you for your response. Do you have an example of this? How would I hotlink it, would the transition be smooth? I currently have x14 but am looking into x15.

Good afternoon, Is it possible to have an interactive floor plan where you can click to a location / point and pan around a 360 Panorama view?
Here is an example from a trailer company Cardinal Luxury 360RLX (matterport.com) - Not mine

Thank you Glenn. I wasn't sure how that got there but I did try a polyline before playing around with the shadow board / frieze boards. I can't seem to figure out the best way to go about doing this decorative molding.
