That mesh is too dense. I need 1" to 1 1/2" wire spacing that run diagonally.

Does any one know where I can get a cabinet door with a metal diamond mesh? I looked through my libraries I have, but If someone knows right away, that will keep me from having to download cabinet libraries all day looking for one. Thanks

How To Build A Shower Wall Half Tile Half Glass?
4hotshoez replied to 4hotshoez's topic in General Q & A
Here is a rendering of the method I used. The door worked, but it may have work because it was next to a tall wall rather than in the middle of a short wall. IDK. -
Thank you Joe and Scott, 1. What do you mean by "mull Them"? 2. Are the filled rectangles placed over portions of the section view before they are sent to Layout? 3. Now, I also have another project coming up in a month where the great room walls are 12' tall, while the first and second floors are 9' tall. Would you recommend the same configuration of a second floor open to below, but with a lower ceiling/roof for the second floor portion for that room?
-
I have a two story great room with windows at the second level that is open to below, and I have a transom window above the first story patio doors that fall in both the first and second floor levels. At this point it would make sense to extend the first floor walls to the roof for this room only, which will allow me to get a wall elevation from the wall elev camera. However, what does this do for showing the walls and windows on the second floor? I know I could use the section tool to get an elevation, so the elevation is not a problem. I can show what was done in Softplan (CAD drafted) for the elevation to help explain the space. There is a second floor railing shown on the South Elevation right of the fireplace. The East Elevation cuts through several rooms, but I rather not show the rooms on the second floor, as was also not drawn in this example. I am sure many of you have built spaces similar to this, so I would like to lean on your experience to make the model work without fighting against Chief to get what I need. Thanks

How To Build A Shower Wall Half Tile Half Glass?
4hotshoez replied to 4hotshoez's topic in General Q & A
I was able to put in a glass door. I made the wall a railing wall 42" high. When I placed the door it came in as an opening. After making some manual changes to the door it was set to 42" tall. I was able to make it 96" tall. and added hardware back in. The glass above is a Polyline solid. The one problem is that to center the door I needed to make it swing both ways. So aligning the glass door is less controllable. -
How To Build A Shower Wall Half Tile Half Glass?

One thought was doing the 42" tile wall as a railing wall with the rail flattened and made to be tile, then use a polyline solid for the glass panel above. Does this method create issues in the model? I have not yet created the glass panels. -
I have a tiled wall that is 42" high then glass up to 8' then open above to the 10' ceiling. How might I build this? The door into the shower is likely floor to top of glass at 8', if we can build it.

Lighting: Recessed Cans Work But The Others Don't
4hotshoez replied to 4hotshoez's topic in General Q & A
This is the first the client will see and a tile backsplash has not been selected yet. As the builder, a 4" splash was spec'd, anything else is still extra cost. There is undercabinet lighting, but it is not showing. This is why I did this image. The pendants look dark too. They are on and boosted to 150 watts. This was also a quick render setting, but about 1300 pixels wide for this one. I would hate to try a regular RayTrace if this was quick. Is General lighting a fixture? NPR? -

I just did a RayTrace over night that was still working on the 367th pass. Does it ever stop? I still need to learn about fine tuning this process. -

Does that rule also apply to RayTrace? -

Ok. That explanation helps. -

Not ray trace yet, but the settings in the dbx are similar, are they not? The can lights I can adjust watts and see results in the 3d preview, but all other lights have no effect. Is this normal for preview? -
How Do People Put Panels On The Side Of Cabinets?
4hotshoez replied to 4hotshoez's topic in General Q & A
I got the backsplash back when I set up the default with one. So I will need to take out the ones that do not have one since the default was set to no backsplash -
I am having success with can lights lighting the model, but all other lights are not contributing (pendants, pucks, strips, sconces) Also, is there a voltage limit in Chief? When I increased the light levels in a darker area, the lighter areas went dark. All lights are on and set to produce shadows. I tried boosting the pendants, but no effect. Todd- PintoElevations.zip

It was working fine with the automatic backsplash. -

Yes, it is common for us to construct this way. -

That is cool, but how do you do inset panels. I added a 3/4 thick cabinet on the side. It works well so far. BUT now my backsplash disappeared. I am not sure if it is related. I noticed after I was installing recessed can lights over the counter. Chief - PintoElevations.plan -
Both wall and base cabinets.

Then there was the development of PowerCADD, which began with PowerDraw, a true CADD alternative to MacDraw that was released in the mid-1980s. The online user group from GEnie that participated in outlining the capabilities of the new CADD program were invited to initiate a graphics forum on Applelink Personal Edition in 1987. PowerCADD is a computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software program for the Apple Macintosh platform developed from out of the PowerDraw platform of the mid-1980s by Greensboro, North Carolina-based Engineered Software.

Development of ArchiCAD started in 1982 for the original Apple Macintosh. ArchiCAD is recognized as the first CAD product on a personal computer able to create both 2D drawings and parametric 3D geometry. Archicad was developed in Hungry. Vectorworks was known as MiniCAD when it first launched in 1985. It was originally developed on Mac OS and became available to Windows computers from MiniCAD 6. With version 8, it became MiniCAD Vectorworks, and with version 8.5 in 1999 it lost its MiniCAD name. Just for comparison, AutoCAD was derived from a program begun in 1977 and released in 1979 called Interact CAD, also referred to in early Autodesk documents as MicroCAD, which was written prior to Autodesk's (then Marinchip Software Partners) formation by Autodesk cofounder Mike Riddle. The first version by the AutoDesk company was demonstrated at the 1982 Comdex and released that December. The 2015 release marked the 29th major release for the AutoCAD for Windows. The 2014 release marked the fourth consecutive year for AutoCAD for Mac.

When I create a new plan file I put the client's information in Tools>Project Information>Client Information so I can use it on the drawings. But I have had to re-enter the information when 1. I "Save As" on the plan file. That information is not porting over to the new file. 2. Anytime I create a new Layout. What is the point of putting it in Layout if it will not read the info from the plan file. If this is the norm, I am not sure what the point of these text macros are for if the program will not save them. I hope I am wrong in my assessment and would invite any corrections.

Not sure if moving the hood was the solution, but it worked to rebuild the countertop with custom. Thank you for your help.
