Thanks all! It's fixed. Not correctly, but it works for me. ALL my deck railings happen to be "interior railings." That one just didn't have the correct exterior material. As to the project... This is my FIRST project in Chief. One of the hardest things was that the 2nd floor is actually a split level, with two different floor heights. And my 4th floor is actually a combination of Floors 4 and 5.... On the other hand, I am learning more quickly than the local building department is able to process permits, and the market is screaming hot, so going slowly has, ironically, been to my benefit, even with expensive borrowed money..... But the little technical challenges have sometimes driven me insane. Nice to know I'm not the only one, and that this forum is probably my saving grace. THANK YOU ALL !

ONE rim joist one deck out of three is wrong color and I can't figure out why. I'm sure that there are plenty of other problems in this plan, but for purposes of design review, that one dang white board is killing me! Thanks. 99_Hillside_v3.plan

tech support for occasional drafting challenges

Hi all, I've done a plan for a house that I'm developing / building, ie, I'm my own client. I've got a bunch of CA experience, but occasionally find myself in a "bang-head-into wall" loop when I can't find how to do something. Sometime it's really hard, or can't be done. Mostly, I just don't have the experience. I'd like to pay for sort-of-on-call help. Example: white trim on deck should be brown. dang white trim that needs to be brown.pdf ... Thanks, Joe

Chief Architect drafting help Hi Cody, I do major remodels of single family residences in the San Francisco Bay Area. 5 years into this phas of my career. Currently working on a complicated project that has 4 stories that step up a hill. My projects are in the $2 - $4 millions range, and I’m currently working on two. I am now doing my own architecture, having learned enough of CA Premier, X9 to be dangerous. The challenge is that I’m new enough at this that somewhat regularly I hit drawing issues that are not that complicated, but I just haven’t yet learned how to do them. So, I’m looking of coaching / help / take over part of the drafting to keep this project moving forward. I can share files remotely. Your location is not that important. I’m looking or someone who is competent, and fun to work with. Current projects need a few critical and currently, urgent inputs. But in the future, it could be pretty steady drafting work to flesh out what I LIKE to do, but can’t, because I have to acquire design and keep my crews busy. Basically, I have regular opportunities, by my architectural drafting skills are a key bottleneck. My builder, engineer and I know the local codes. But the planning and building departments here a extremely persnickety, and they want close to perfect plans, which I simply can’t produce. I LOVE what I’m doing, and am successful at it. But I can’t do it all. Is there a possibility to work together? Please contact me at Joe@LongitudeProperties.com, or on my cell at 415-601-8891. My most active current project is at: https://accounts.chiefarchitect.com/3DV/551392585718033 I look forward to hearing from you. Hi Brian, Can I get some quick help on a simple problem that I just can't find direction on? I cannot delete the words "Page Title" in my layout. They are NOT visible on screen or in print preview, etc. But they actually DO print on paper.
Suggestion? Thanks, Joe
