  1. So you have a full case flush on both sides of door? I thought you could only do one side?
  2. Mick I tried doing a material region on an elevation, can’t snap to anything or center, so it’s difficult to get it just right. Doesnt work for me like you?
  3. Thanks Mick.. I have done this many times just wasn’t sure . yes my pony wall lower wall is two 0” thicknesses of black with framing in the middle
  4. Also there is a gap at end of wall where drywall would have been?
  5. i have a casing...mick how do you copy framing material and blend..are you just painting it in 3d?
  6. I am still not sure how to make rough opening make shadow line around door? I had to keep casing checked and make it the same width as door jamb and 1/16" thick. when you have an end wall condition the studs show through?
  7. Great ideas thanks... I didn’t really need the black just the reveal.. if it’s done then the shadow will work to provide the look.. does the door reveal work on both sides? Thanks for your input.
  8. Here are some drywall trims to use with base
  9. Goo hack.. but it kind defeats purpose of having a 3D design program. what about having a pony wall with lower wall a 1/8” thick 4.5” black layer over studs and then somehow recess a 3/8”x4” base and the difference will be the recess? Maybe this is what Eric did?
  10. So 4 different moldings? But then you don’t get true reveal as it wraps around corners.
  11. I completely understand how to make a pony wall and use material regions for grooves but pony walls only allow two types of walls. so the inset about base can not be made with a pony wall can it? using material regions for that groove is time consuming and they are not easy to line up. eric it would be great if you elaborated
  12. Looks good, but how do you use pony walls?
  13. That seems like a whole lot of work. it would take for ever. there must be an easier way?
  14. I want to show a flush base and door trim anyone know how to do this easily with chief?
  15. Thanks.. I think I was saving as a block to my library.. not sure why, I have created and saved many symbols to my library... then you can stretch and reverse.. cheers Merry Christmas
  16. Thanks do much everyone.. it never ceases to amaze me the help I get on this forum, thank you. ca says I can just go to library and drop a door wherever I want.. but the only go into walls. the reason I wasn’t using the bonus library for barn doors is I lock the rolling brackets to door and then I can open or close barn door by selecting and sliding left or right, this can not be done with preloaded doors. i also just stretch track to suitable length based on opening. anyone have tips and tricks they use with barn doors?
  17. i will try it, i copied and pasted plan into a new one and that seemed to work. Merry Christmas
  18. eric if i delete current floor command, wont that delete the plan? this design is for a basement.
  19. Hi all, i have this basement plan and when i go to full extents it zooms way out...I cant find out where the rogue object is. I have attached plan for anyone to open and try and let me know what is going on. Any help would be appreciated. smith basement.zip
  20. All I did was change that floor to -24”.. so there is no room above.
  21. I have a drop floor 24" and a half wall with a stair bumped up against it..ca wants to draw a wall at ceiling? If i pull stair away it goes away but then half wall going down stairs is not sloped any more Anyone have an answer?
  22. Mark if I have a bank of drawers next to a wall or inside corner of adjacent cabinets there will always be a space like 1.25-3” to allow for drawer and door opening. chief puts auto fillers in but flush with cabinetry not the doors so it looks amateurish.. we flush our fillers to front of drawers and doors. i wish ca had an option of where fillers were placed.. ie cabinet face or drawer/door face.
  23. I got a new msi gaming laptop and I need to transfer all files to it, what is best way to do this? is there a way to connect both computers and do a transfer of files? dies it make sense to save files and libraries to google so I can access them anytime? Also we are looking to get a second license and think I want to have access to libraries. only thing does it slow down chief if I use google vs having files/libraries on a solid state drive ?
  24. Hi mark, i have another instance where i have two full height wall cabinets and a shorter one in middle...i need side panels on each full height cab..cant get it to work on both sides? cabinet auto panel plan 2.zip
  25. OMG.... thanks that is awesome... I work for a custom cabinet shop and we do full house renos as well, i am the in house designer/project mgr. We build all our cabinet boxes with prefinished birch plywood so all our exposed sides need plant on gables...i have been adding these manual for ever... We also do flush mount fillers for all drawers and doors...something ca will not do automatically? So would you set the cabinets default to auto panel for both sides and then turn off the side that was not needed?
