  1. With this system, are your still pressing 2 or 3 buttons to go from one action to another? For example; If I'm on the "main" screen and I want to draw an exterior wall it be one button to go to walls and then one more to select which type of wall. Then if I want to draw a door in that wall I would have push the back button to go to the main screen, the opening button and then the type of door, so that be 3. Do you find you are pushing a lot of buttons for one action? Are the hot keys not faster as I don't have to go back to the main screen etc? I would be sold if there was one big screen/device with all the commands that I need on there.
  2. Hmm I'm about halfway I guess, but you must have a VIP membership that you get 20 versions in 15 years and burn through a lot of computers . However, my question is, do you professional Chiefers have the same results with drawing cross sections? I find I'm spending a lot of time editing those and think it will take me another 25+ years to get those so that I don't have to edit a single line when sending them to the layout.
  3. I have a similar question about separating new construction from existing construction. My question is about this issue in elevation drawings. I don't do a lot of renovation plans but when I do, I like to overlay the existing construction with a somewhat transparent filled polyline to give it a "faded" look. With simple additions it is usually no problem although it can be time consuming but it really gets difficult when I have a covered deck added to an existing part of the house (as in the picture). It takes too long to make all individual polylines for in between the railings etc. I was hoping it would work with placing the existing construction on a separate layer and have it displayed on the elevation drawing with grey lines instead of the black lines for the new construction. Then I thought to make a separate drawing group called existing and place that behind the cad group or even place it on an different drawing group behind the cad group but that also doesn't seem to work. Do you have any ideas or pointers?
  4. I have had angled lines in some of my cross section views in X14 as well. When I moved the camera forward or backward small amounts they would disappear. Not sure if this is the same thing you are talking about or if it is of any help but thought to share.
  5. The customer wants it in a DXF file. They are not using the elevations or heights and only use the total station for laying out exterior, party walls and deck columns. Are you saying a CSV file would export this better?
  6. Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me with exporting Point Markers. I have a building that needs to get imported into a TopCon Total station. I put Point Markers at each building corner and at the center of the sonotube columns. Problem is, when exporting the file in a DXF format and imported into the total station the Point Markers become to separate lines and we lose the center point of the Point Marker. Is there something else that I should be using to get point references in the total station? Thanks for any help!
  7. Thank you all very much!! You people are amazing with your knowledge and willingness to share! Learned something new again as I had never used the clipped option before and thanks for the plan/cabinets Mark!
  8. Thanks for that! I had hoped it could be done with the cabinet so that the base would line up but I guess there would be work arounds for that. However, with my question I had hoped to kill two birds with one stone because of similar situations that I ran into before. Any suggestions?
  9. I would like to make the cabinets according the red outline. With this plan I am trying to match an existing kitchen that was built.
  10. Hello, Hopefully I am not asking a very obvious question but several times now, I needed to have the back of a cabinet angled but was not able to shape the cabinet according to the wall it is installed against. I have attached a picture of what I am trying to do in this project. I searched "custom cabinets" on the forum and in the videos but that seems to provide information on how to customize a cabinet in regards to the doors. Does anyone have some advice or can point me in the direction where I can find info on this? Thanks in advance!
  11. I was afraid to hear that Thanks for the responses though!!
  12. Hello everyone, My Polyline Solid is by default set to a 1" thickness. Is it possible to changes this setting to a different thickness so that I don't have to change them every time?
  13. In real life the precast panels have a chamfered edge and I'm not sure how to get that accomplished.
  14. Can you please explain this or send me in a direction where I could find more info on this? I have to model a precast shop and would like to have the joints from the panels show and possibly even have different color panels. Not sure what would be the easiest way to get this done.
  15. Yes it is an addition but part of the overhang has to remain so I was looking for a way to illustrate that in the demolition plan. Thanks for the replies Mark and Joe!
  16. I searched "Glass Vector View" but have to admit didn't look close enough . When I searched vector clear I came across the tread "Can a Material Be Nothing?" where you wrote about making a new symbol without a panel which sent me in the right direction. I ended up making a symbol so it looks like it is glass. Thanks for the help!!
  17. Hello, Not sure if this possible but I am trying to show how far a roof has to be removed for a renovation job. I thought to use a vector camera view and add some notes overtop in the layout. I am trying to place a piece of glass at the point where they have to stop removing the existing roof. I have the same material as the windows of the house which are see through but the separate piece of glass remains color filled. Is it possible to make it see through? I just want to have the outside lines showing. Thanks for any help!
  18. Thanks for that! I was doing something similar to that but whenever I moved the camera, the lines have to be manually moved also which is why I started to look into this to save some time. Personally I would like the program to improve on items like that, which can make it easier and faster to produce construction drawings rather then all the 3D Photo stuff which I find is plenty good the way it is for showing the customer what the project will look like.
  19. Thank you very much!! I should have been more patient and checked out the layout page also (or just close a cross section view camera) but when I was trying it, I changed the layer to a red color to check it and only the color of the 3D overview cameras changed on my working plan but not the cross section lines so I assumed it wasn't working. However when I send it to the layout, as Michael suggested, the cross section lines also had a different color. I assume it is not possible to have the callout on a separate layer as the cross section line? If that was the case it would really suit the situation because I want the cross section lines less visible on the floorplan layout to make it cleaner looking but the callouts on the side can stay black and very visible.
  20. Hello Chiefers, Is it possible to change the line color for a Backclipped Cross Section view? I have a callout on both sides of the plan with a short/long dashed line connecting them which is black but I would like it to be more of a lighter grey so that it is lighter on the prints. Can't seem to find anything in the settings and changing the layer color doesn't do it. Thanks for any help!
  21. Double click on the room so it opens the "Room Specifications" window and at the bottom in this window there is "Floor Structure", click on the edit button of the Floor Structures and change the material there. That seemed to work for me although I did have to pull up your walls a bit to hide the gap in between because it was still showing the regular concrete from the walls.
  22. It worked, until I changed the railing to invisible then it went back to the regular concrete. However, I went in the actual floor structure settings in the Room Specifications and changed the Floor Structure material and then it worked. Thanks for your help!!
  23. I have them invisible on my plan. Its not a big deal as I usually don't change the concrete anyways but when it came up I thought it be nice to know. I tried some different settings in the wall definition and wall structure but it won't change it for me.
