Hello again, In our area it is necessary to show on the plan how many square feet the outside wall area is together with the square footage of the windows. This then gets converted into percentages to see if it complies with the fire code. Is this achievable in Chief Architect? Appreciate any help on this!!

In my door schedule it shows for a double door the following: 1x (for quantity) 60" x 80". I would like it to show 2x 30" x 80" and still have the rough opening show as 62" x 82 1/2". Is this possible?

Thanks for the help!! It worked but I'm not sure if I will use it for the final product.

yes I did that for the floor plan but was hoping to have something available to distinguish the new from the old on the elevation views also with still keeping the colors for the exterior finishing but only having it reduced.
-
Would you also do this on an elevation view? Sorry, forgot to mention for which view.

Hello again, I'm working on a drawing that is for a renovation job and I was wondering if it would be possible to have the new addition distinguished from the already existing part of the house by having the materials faded significantly. I want to keep all the colors but just showing them at 50%. I tried to copy materials and change the color but that doesn't have the right affect. Thanks to whoever can help me out!! Gerard

Thanks a lot for your help!! Could not have done it without your guidance!! I will keep that last post in mind as well. Amazing how that adding the roof on top made it come together. I find that is often the case with CA; if one link is missing the whole chain disappears. That's why this Chief Talk is so nice that it enables to connect with people like yourself that know the program inside out. Can't wait to get there. Much appreciated! Gerard

Sorry but I can't get it. I did as you said but the walls just won' go on top of the roof. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have re-attached the plan if I can still be helped but otherwise I can call technical support next week. Thanks Untitled 2.plan

Thanks for your help, yes I tried to tell the customer to make it bigger as well but no luck so far yet. I got the hole but how do I get it so that the walls go on top of the roof and not below? Thanks again!

Yes I can get it on the side roof pane also but not on the ridge. Would I have to make two and somehow connect them?

Thanks for your reply, I updated my signature. I'm using X9. It was video #1521 "Manually Drawing Dormers" No I did not try the skylight. I placed a polyline (on both floors and attic) trying to get a hole in the roof so I could build the walls on top of the roof, but it wouldn't give me that option on any floor level. Thanks, Gerard

Good day, I need some help in getting this roof to work. I'm trying to get a chimney/cupola on this barn/shop. The video I saw on this it showed to make a hole in the roof. No matter what I try I can not get it so that that option becomes available when I'm trying to convert the poly line. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help Untitled 2.plan

I have a somewhat similar issue with my roof. (Not sure if it has to be in a new conversation) I have this simple garage addition with a dutch and full gable up front. I cant get the line to disappear in the fascia where it meets the upper roof (its doesn't show in regular view but I use vector views for the elevation views in my layout). Any advise? Thanks in advance Gerard

Thank you very much, that did it. Now if i want to later on add in lets say lookouts or adjust the overhang will that remove these new perlins? It seems like as soon as I re-frame anything on the roof, the perlins disappear.

Hello Alaskan Son, I tried your video several times but when I have made the block of the one lookouts and saved it in my library, it doesn't work to get it to show up in my framing view again. It shows up on my plan view as a cad block but that is it. What am I doing wrong?

Is it possible to have the exterior door labels on a separate layer so that it can be displayed separately? I only want to have the exterior door labels showing and not the interior ones. Much appreciate your response!
-
Thanks, that did it!! Not major, but is it possible to get those arrows and dimensions gone that appear vertically when I add an elevation dimension?
-
Thanks for your reply, I did that but it still shows 3.17' for grade level and -3.83' for T/O Footing?
-
Does anyone know how to get the program to show the story pole elevation dimensions in feet AND inches rather than decimal feet only? (Mine shows 3.25' and I want it to show 3'-3")
