  1. Yup! And because they're parametric panels that can be set as "Framed" and "Glass door", one would think that adding Lite controls to cabinet panels would be possible... Thoughts, @Dermot?
  2. FYI for the curious: the reason some controls don't work on library doors is they're 3D models, and while they have "glass" components, the program doesn't really have a good way to identify and modify 3D model data like that. That typically boils down to "if the 3D Model isn't how you like it, adjust the 3D Model". The doors baked into the Door Type dropdown are parametric objects, special door objects that the program has explicit control over. This is why those types of doors actually change their shape when given an Arch, etc., but library doors don't.
  3. This should all be the same in X12 and X13. For Plan views it will just take whatever Default Set and Drawing Sheet that was used in the active view, however if you were in a camera view when you created the Detail, it will use the Camera View's Default Set (note this changed to 'Plan Default Set' in X13, from "1/4" scale" in X12) and the last open Plan View's Drawing Sheet, since camera views don't have a Drawing Sheet. A new Detail's default Layer Set is specified in the Default Settings> Layer Sets dialog.
  4. The next time this happens, try undocking and re-docking a Side Window like the Active Layer Display Options. I've had one user report that this has corrected his toolbars every time he's encountered this issue for the past few weeks, avoiding the need to reset or restore from a backup.
  5. Yes, Brian informed me this is indeed the case - so we do have good record of this and Testing is well aware of it, sorry for the confusion. Cait, if you could send us a copy of the Layout and Plan files, I would be curious to see if we could reproduce this with your set of plans as well. Printing performs an "Update All Live Views" action to ensure the live views are all up to date and at their highest resolution (which often trips people up with views set to Live View Update On Demand appearing fuzzy). If we updated Plot Line views before printing, that would render Edit Layout Lines useless. There very well may be a couple different things going on here which makes pinning these issues down rather difficult, it is hard to determine if these issues are all related or if they are separate issues manifesting at similar times, etc. The trouble is that we are trying to find some way to reproduce this behavior so Testing/Development can really put their finger on exactly what is happening, please do not feel that we are dismissing these issues; just because we can't reproduce them doesn't mean we don't believe they exist. We are trying to determine what would be causing this, which leads us to guess and assume as best as we can in lieu of being able to see it happen, for instance, I assume this may have something to do with how long these views take to update on your plan, but that may be a false assumption. The more information we can gather, the better. If we can reproduce it, we can work on fixing it. I'll continue this particular issue offline with Katherine and we'll see what we find. Anyone else that encounters these types of issues, please document your steps as best as possible and submit a copy of your Plan/Layout.
  6. Thanks for clearing this up, submitting cases direct to Testing is fine for getting the information to our developers, however there's no paper trail, so I'm sure there's a report about this case somewhere but we'd have to dig to find it. Submitting these cases to Tech Support is best as it gives us something to go off of, we can very quickly look up your support cases and cross reference reports filed to testing/dev.
  7. This sounds to be the case; if you take ONE camera and send a View, go back and rotate that same camera and send another view, you've sent two views from one camera. The layout will look right because by default those views will be set to "Live View Update On Demand", so neither will have been updated to show what they really are. The On Demand aspect kicks in when you hit Print, and since both views were sent from the same camera, the result is that the first image will be updated to match the second. As Chopsaw said, each view used on your layout must be from unique cameras, (or sent as Image, though I never recommend it).
  8. Hi everyone, DSHall, I'm most curious about your issue since you started this thread. it seems that the Cross Section Lines did not get updated, or perhaps Horizon lines were not erased, leaving the outline of the AC Unit's location is still drawn. This is unusual and not something I have personally seen before. I checked your case history and didn't see any record of this case being submitted. If you still have a plan that's exhibiting this that you feel is reproducible, or saved in this state, please send it in to us via the Technical Support Center so we can look it over. I would be curious too if you see this happens again, if you select the Layout Box and hit Layout Box Layers, if you toggle "Cross Section Lines" off, do these lines disappear? I would ask Cait and anyone else encountering something similar to also send in your plans with clear steps to reproduce. Chopsaw, I think your issue is different. First though I would clarify that "Update All Views" absolutely is meant to update literally all views, Elevation or otherwise. The Toolname is based on the other tools in that set: Update All Live Views, Update All Plot Line Views, and Update All Views. The implication here is that Update All Views will update all Live Views (all 3D views) as well as 2D Views that are set to Plot Lines (rather than Live View Update On Demand). Having looked at the current case you have open with us, looking at the plan that was attached and having watched your videos, I think the issue here really is confusion over how the different views work, compounded by plan complexity. In one video you showed how a door looked different in one view than it did in another, that it "lost detail" until the view was updated. This, I believe, is due to the way Plot Line views work; architectural elements are not updated on Plot Line views because of how the program has to plot the lines within that view. As Drawzilla suggested, opening and closing the view (or hitting the Update View button on that view) will force it to redraw those lines. You can see the same behavior in many ways, for instance if you have the Layout and Elevation side by side and move a door or window, it will not update on the Layout until that view is manually updated. This is one of the main reasons we implemented Live Views (that and having live 3D views, of course). So in your example it would seem that at some point in time the door in question changed from a Slab type to a panel type, but only one view had been updated, so the old views still showed the Slab door (or vice versa). Using Update All Plot Line Views will force these views to update, however the Layout you recorded the video on and sent in is very, very large and takes several minutes for my computer to complete this update, so I fear there may be some issue with the time that it takes, having an impact on the update, that is an issue with this layout, not the tools. Regardless, Plot Line views have always needed a manual refresh to update architectural changes (that is to say, drawing CAD or text on the Elevation will immediately be visible on the Layout without refreshing), but Live Views set to Update Always, do not. I think the bottom line here is that there is expected behavior depending on the types of views you are using, and in most cases it works as expected, but when it does not, we need these instances to be reported to Technical Support, preferably via the Support Center with a plan and layout, screenshots, and steps to reproduce. I hope this helps explain some things, but again I urge anyone who feels that this feature is not behaving properly, please submit your plans and we'll see what we can find.
  9. Hi guys, I wanted to give a little update as to my findings on this. First, the "Remember Print Settings after Printing" ONLY retains the last Printer used*, nothing else. As per the Help Doc, "If the Remember box is checked, the last printer used in the current view type is shown ... If the Remember box is unchecked, the system’s default printer will be shown." *Specifically, when on Drawing Sheet Setup, if you uncheck Remember, you can press Choose to specify Printer, Orientation, Paper Size, and Paper Source - these are the only settings affected by this option. Next, the other settings have their own set of rules: Print Range: All or Current Sheet selection will be retained, Sheets will always reset between prints. Print Source: If Drawing Sheet is toggled ON on your Plan/Layout, Drawing Sheet will be selected by default. If Drawing Sheet is toggled OFF on your Plan/Layout, Current View will be selected by default. Drawing Scale: Selection is retained between prints. For reference (and curiosity) I tested this back to X3 and it's the same behavior. I hope this clears things up.
  10. There are no GPUs currently on the market running 16GB VRAM, "8GB - 16GB RAM" would be referring to system memory. At this time the NVidia GeForce 10-series is the top of the line card, for laptops specifically its the GTX 1080, running 8GB GDDR5. For desktops it is the GTX 1080 Ti running a (rather unusual) 11GB GDDR5X. Regarding upgrading the GPU of your laptop: while there are a few very specific models of high-end gaming laptop where this is a possibility, for the most part the GPU is absolutely NOT an upgradable component for most laptops, and you would not expect such a thing from a laptop running an integrated Intel chipset. If you are shopping specifically for a laptop that has this capability, please do your research and set your expectations accordingly, otherwise it is best to operate under the assumption that, as a Laptop, the only upgradable components will be Memory and Storage, period. To directly answer Tristan89's initial question though, we support Intel chipsets Generation 4 and later; the Intel 620 is a 7th generation chipset and should be fine.
