  1. yes. it can be done.... and i'll you bet you i can do that 10 annot set in 8:49 mins if we're having a race in making annot set. and to see how many mouse clicks and dbx screen we can do in a minute span. and have a 100% full upstanding of have how Annote set is done and whats need. i dont think an Joe off the street can jump into a Indy car and pull off 1:20 Lap time in the Indy race track. it would take him a little longer, if at all, he can figure out how to shift the gear in the indy car. my point is..... for user-friendly, and complexity, and for a beginner / novice user .....this is a challenge to grasp CA Annot method. it took me a looooong time figure to use it. and its somthing that you cant just use it outta the box and adapt to your drawing practice.
  2. i think in Wedy's video Chief_15_Anno_8 @ the 0:57 Min mark...... her voice remarks can sum up the flaws and in-efficiencies of trying to creating Annnotation Set. "same thing, put it on that one...oK, same thing, put it on that one...oK, same thing, put it on that one...oK, same thing, put it on that one...oK, " "i have pause this now.....and not make you watch while I DO THEM ALL" creating new layers, changing layer, for CAllouts, Text Size, Richtext and Dimension all that steps for customize the ONE 1/8" Scale Annotations. now reapeat all that to how many Scaled annotation Set need to have. this is my point of how badly designed and complicated CA Annotation Set method is.
  3. upgraded 10.11 now. no problem with the install. no problem with CA. everything flawless.
  4. i have the same mouse. the Ikea battery and those lasts about 2-3days, 8-10hr/day
  5. i sure that is true... but can it less complicated, and easier to manage and save more time??
  6. yes, thats what you would have to do.... and each time want a new scale you would make copy that template and then apply and adjust the text size and callouts to the scale right? i would have a Template Annote Set....Template Annote Set ....copy and rename a set Template Annote Set ....copy and rename a set for 1/2" Annote Set > 1/2" for CAllouts, Text Size, Richtext and Dimension Template Annote Set ....copy and rename a set for 1/4" Annote Set > 1/4" for CAllouts, Text Size, Richtext and Dimension Template Annote Set ....copy and rename a set for 3/16" Annnote Set > 3/16" for CAllouts, Text Size, Richtext and Dimension Template Annote Set ....copy and rename a set for 1/8" Annote Set > 1/8" for CAllouts, Text Size, Richtext and Dimension. and also having a template for all the CAllouts, Text Size, Richtext and Dimension. and have to copy and remame that sub-set of attributes the aocordance scale, right?? am i doing that right?? now if i want to make a slight change in the Annote Set....i cant just make the change in the template and have that change apply to all my Scaled(1/2, 1/4, 3/16) Annote Set. i would have go into each indivialdul Scaled Annot set make to change to. OR do the Copy and Rename process all over again. isnt better to have a Global Template Annote Set and have scale multiplier factor instead of having the copy and reame process? isnt that the logic and benifit of have a Template?? Template Annote Set x 1/2" (scale factor) = 1/2" Annote Set > 1/2" for CAllouts, Text Size, Richtext and Dimension
  7. hi all, do you think have a Global annotation scale size is better then having to create a scale for every scale you wanting to use, like the way AutoCad do theirs? having to make individual set for each scale... 1/2" Annote Set > 1/2" for CAllouts, Text Size, Richtext and Dimension 1/4" Annote Set > 1/4" for CAllouts, Text Size, Richtext and Dimension 3/16" Annnote Set > 3/16" for CAllouts, Text Size, Richtext and Dimension 1/8" Annote Set > 1/8" for CAllouts, Text Size, Richtext and Dimension in CA, you end up having creating endless amount of CAllouts, Text Size, Richtext and Dimension for each of thos Annotation Set everytime you make new Annotation Set you have to make new set of the CAllouts, Text Size, Richtext and Dimension.
  8. hi, just have couple Q. on your drawing posted. 1. how did you create your Down spouts?? is that 3D object or CAD line drawn into the elevation?? 2. the hidden lines below grade, is that CAD line as well? thanks,
  9. 10.10 Yosimite is ok with me since it came out. no problems. and faster than 10.9 i would like to jump into E|Captn too. who'll be the first
  10. i've fighting wiht this issue for a long time now. i've totally given up on trying to understang Annotation Set and trying to making templates. i also think thats it's just too complicate and confusing. so now i just so all my annotation in Layout page instead on in Plan page. i just have 1 Annotation Set (Default) in my Plan. in this Default Annt Set, i make multiple Dimesnion Set/style....Floor Plan Dim, Framing Dim, Foundaiton Dim, Site Plan....with these dim set/style, i give its own layers... Dimension, Floor Layer.....Dimension, Site...Dimension, Framing.....etc. thats only thing i use Annote Set for.... (( then do all my text lables and annotation in Layout Page....Floor Plan Page will have all plan annote....Building Section page would have annto on that page. ....so on, so on....
  11. cant you share link to this video?? thanks
  12. yes. i do realized that if a linetype is used in the plan, then it can not be purge out the dbx. but i have tested that. deleted that unique linetype in the User Catalog, and delete all used line in the plan. then Save, close and reopen...but is show in dbx
  13. not for me. still in the Line dbx
  14. yes, i created and do see it. it's in "appears in your Library Browser in the "User Catalog" area" and i have deleted it in here. but is still appears in the LT in the drawing. i want to PURGE it in the drawing.
  15. hi, i've created a few custom linetypes, by trial-error, to get the right TL-scale i needed. now i have all these LT created and dont want. where do i go to delete them??

  18. this topic baffles me too. til now i just find Curt Johnson's method works best for me. and that is raising it 12". here another issue i have with this topic.... i alway need 2 difference heel height on my plan. 1 @ 12" for the main roof of the house. and the other heel height @ 0" for the attached garage. i always just Auto build @ 12", then manually lower the the garage roof to what i need.
  19. hi, when CA auto create the elevations, it puts it into the Section View Set by default. is there a setting to change this? i would like the Elevation view to be in its "Elevation View Set", instead of the default Section View Set.
  20. i agree with you on this. LESS IS MORE. "gives them the flexibility to build it right in the field instead of following some 2D or 3D representation" for my Contruction Drawing, i only provide enough detail to pass, get the Building Permit. i work with a handful of contractor and engineers that knows how build certain things way better than i could ever detail it.
  21. i use Chief as my main software for what i do. but im always looking at other apps (sketchup, Softplan, etc.) to see what other can do. there are Pros n Cons in very app in the market, when you compare them side by side. no apps is ever perfect. i think Chief is the most comprehensive app that serves my need, so that is why i use it. but i am amazed to what some Skectchup user can produced for their plan. look at this Detail...
  22. heres another mis-function of this topic..... why cant CA print in grey scale??
  23. this is really, really, ridiculously silly of CA function like this.
  24. hi, what is the setting in the Wall fill that make it in print color, but no Fill when print NOT "Print in Color" i just alway use the CA 6" Stucco Wall type and all other CA standard wall type. no custom, no frills. but whens come to printing, all wall fill show when "Print in Color" ON and only 1 wall fill show as the black wall, when "Print in Color" OFF whats the option that controls the Fill printing?? Vs.
  25. yes. i think you and i have to same solution. only way is to break the Garage space into 2. then set the desire height in each of the garage space i was hoping that CA have another solution to this. it'd be great if you can just "lock" the Bedroom floor height, so that is fixed. so when you change the Garage wall height, it dosent affect the Bdroom Floor/Garage Ceiling. it should just Auto create a void space to make up the changes.
