It has to do with the red color you are using.
If you want it to not to go black use a lighter color of red.
RGB color (R-255,G-70, B-70)
it appears after testing this that if your green, blue is below 60-65 it looks black.
this is really, really, ridiculously silly of CA function like this.

hi,
what is the setting in the Wall fill that make it in print color, but no Fill when print NOT "Print in Color"
i just alway use the CA 6" Stucco Wall type and all other CA standard wall type. no custom, no frills.
but whens come to printing, all wall fill show when "Print in Color" ON
and only 1 wall fill show as the black wall, when "Print in Color" OFF
whats the option that controls the Fill printing??

Hi Buzz,
Try this one
yes. i think you and i have to same solution.
only way is to break the Garage space into 2. then set the desire height in each of the garage space
i was hoping that CA have another solution to this.
it'd be great if you can just "lock" the Bedroom floor height, so that is fixed.
so when you change the Garage wall height, it dosent affect the Bdroom Floor/Garage Ceiling.
it should just Auto create a void space to make up the changes.

attached plan.
my solution i think of is to break the Garage into 2 spaces. at the Bedroom wall above.
then set the Garage 2 space wall height @ 10'9", Garage 1 @ 9'6"

This is my first attempt at creating a contemporary home for a client in the Los Altos area with Chief Architect. It was much easier that I anticipated although it is a fairly simple design. I started this last night at about 7 pm and finished the design by noon today so I put about 6 hrs into the project and I have a complete design with a 3D rendering that I can show my client. This is the benefit of the software when it comes to Designing a home for a client, I only wish it would fill in the blanks when it comes to the working drawings.
Would love all your feedback.
Chris
hi chris,

HI, i've struggle in with this subject for a longest time.
i have a bedroom over the garage.
when drawn by Default...the garage Ceiling height (11'-0" )and the Main floor ceiling height in the same, and Bedroom floor/height over the garage typical and the same @ 8'-0".
here what i am trying to do....
i want lower my Garage ceiiing to 9'0"....by doing this, it will cause the Floor of the bedroom to drop as well.
what im doing now is draw a Invisible wall and divide the Garage into 2 spaces, 1 space keeping the floor heigh of bedroom over it, and the other space with the dropped ceiling height.
is there a tool or some way to Lock the floor height of the space above (the Bedroom) so that it wil not drop when i modify the ceiling below??

if you're leaving X7 and going back to X6.
is there any way to open your X7 file in X6?
-
Not the best way, see pic,
i use this method and found it most suitable for me.
i wish it could do this with 2 lines and smaller font size.

i've upgrade to SSD for my Application drive.
thinking about upgrading my Data drive to SSD too.
any increase in performance in doing this??

hi,
is there way to downgrade my X7 (plan and layout) files so my client to use it on their X6 version?
thanks,

Just do an ortho view with shadows and 'technical illustration". Play with settings...etc.
Not exactly what you are trying to do (I did not take time to paint windows black...but took me 5 min)
An ortho with shadows combined with an elevation. If I took a little more time, I could make it nicer.
I THINK WE A WINNER!!! VERY NICE.
I'LL BE ADOPTING THIS METHOD.

my problem was...
---------------------- ANSWERThere are several different potential reasons why you may exhibit this behavior, known as z-fighting. The most common reasons are
- The plan is located too far from the origin.

moved plan to 0,0,0
problem solved!!
thanks all for reply.

I use a lot of macro's every chance I get. Text macro's are very easy to create, and we all know we hate typing the same thing over and over again. You just type or copy any text into create Ruby box. this is the simplest form of a macro.
I do have lot of others thanks to the fine people here.
here is a simple text macro
is there a way to export/reuse the txt created across multiple plan??
i made tons of these simple text macro in one plan.
just use that plan as Template Plan? or can you Export/Import macro plan to plan??
-
Yes the reference layer will print. I use them for almost every plan sent to the layout, a big time saver. You just create your own custom reference set just like a layerset.
how do you print Ref layer??
-
yes...but not quite as rigid and strong as the FLUX.
more notes and paragraph. i use the Flux for labels and title, etc.. and Frank for note & dims.

they have this option for Footing object.
when you draw Pile footing, you can turn on/off, change property, in differ level.
wonder why not for dimensions??
