we are not required to have a top rail here but depending on the local codes, but a base shoe is a must. It all needs to be engineered
-
also, if you want "Egress " in the label, just add the built-in macro to the label.

The last Apple I purchased was an Apple II Plus in 1980. I bought a PC in 1984 and have never looked back.
Ditto, except it was an apple IIc for me.

SELL - TRANSFER
what the h*** is the difference
I asked if I could SELL/TRANSFER my license to another user and they said NO !!!
I did ask for a transfer form and what the transfer fee would be
I then stated that since I was retired I might as well put Chief in the GARBAGE
and I was told that was my choice
CA has twice posted on this forum that it can't be done anymore
except in VERY limited cases
so anyone who has a problem with my postings needs to get over it
Lew
Lew, I have known you for many years, you were the orginal post leader and you helped many people over those years. I imagine you made lots of money using chief and that's a good thing. we are both getting old and in the scheme of things, is it worth it to you to fight this losing battle with all the headaches and higher blood pressure anyone can get. To me, it's just not worth it. there are more important things in life like family and friends. whatever happens here, you win!!! A few bucks are just that. be grateful we are still doing it. I'll do this until I am in the ground and be happy about it.

After you put actual floor joists in, that will lower the wall height by the thickness of the floor. You may also need to furr down the ceiling to get the required amount of insulation to fit depending on what climate zone you live. many other things involved, get a pro too help you.

That's actually true if the contract establishes the duty ie: you will then be able to transfer your rights at will. The insurance company will pay damages if X,Y,Z Bad Faith is an intentional dishonest act by not fulfilling a legal or contractual obligation or intentionally misleading another. Chief has done neither. Whether or not license transfer is permitted (still debatable - want to hear from Chief) is still at their option. To completely eliminate the transfer would be a breach of the EULA. Not a lawyer, thank God - my sister is and that is bad enough... This is however pretty basic stuff to know if you're in business.
isn't that what I'm saying, we all have attorney friends, and family Chief is not responsible for a change in policy. an agreement to lease or rent a computer program is quite different than an insurance policy. if you know your business.
-
lew, Bad Faith is a legal term which means that Chief would have a fiducary duty to its customers, like an insurance company to its shareholders would have, but Chief does not to us.

I'm in California where the energy calculations can get crazy and has been for the last 30 years and I agree with your statement. We have our own California energy codes unlike anything else so I really can't use export to Rescheck here. I can use some of the info though and it should be correct.

i am using 527.56 all day today and seems to be working good .

For me, I just took a couple of in person Chief courses at a city near me for a couple of weekends. That and this forum and all the wonderful friends here was all it took, especially my friend Scott Hall who is the king of the workarounds. we were in the classes together. that was back in 2005 because we fought hard to help with the development of Chief, we don't need those workarounds anymore. I think your best bet is right here after you understand how Chief works. Worked for me.

Do you understand we just saw the new customer get slaughtered in front of us and we will not be slaughtered next.
Tell that to the frog they are boiling.
All I see here is a lot of everyone guessing on what will happen in the future. No one really knows at this point. We should all just cool it until we know for sure. Only thing we know is that some prices will change. For me nothing changes yet.
-
So, if you already own Chief, nothing changes. I don't see any problems at this point until chief changes that. New chief sales just have to suck it up and charge accordingly.

carefully adjusting the colors and printing in grayscale can be quite good and less expensive to print. the lighter the color, the lighter the gray line can be.

Perry,
What area of the Chief Website did you go to see that?
you know what it said 525 earlier today when I checked, and now it says 595. I looked in the buy/ renewal tabs

As of the current listing on Chief's Website - it's $595 to renew if it's expired. But there's no other price listed so I don't know if that's the normal renewal price. The key is - don't let it expire.
I also note that there appears to be a sale on additional licenses right now - next 10 days - at $1995.00
IAE, I'll continue to pay my SSA every year so I will have the current version as my "owned" license. It's just the cost of the new features and the SSA Fee is quite reasonable IMO.
i checked mine and it says renew for 525.00
-
Guys, isn't SSA 525.00 and not 595.00
-
I think our existing license has no change as long as you pay the ssa on time, but once you don't pay on time, you cannot pay later, and you must switch to another account. that's the way I read it.

I have been using liquid cooling for about 20 years now, luckily no problems.
-
did you try to reframe the wall?
-
I have a remarkable 1 for all my field notes and measurements and love it, no paper needed ever, and its all stored on the cloud. Also prints in pdf.
-
i actually like the stream deck much better than finding the tools in a toolbar or dropdown, less clicks for me for sure.

I was trying to sketch up an idea I had in my head in Chief the other day and was going in circles. By the time I got close in Chief the idea had morphed into something unusable. Then I picked up a pencil and paper and began sketching out an idea and voila, there it was. Not the best analogy but sometimes a pencil and paper is just more practical in the real world than all the latest technology.
I walked through, in my head, a house measure with a Disto Blue Tooth device that included a lap top opened to Chief on a stand that moved from room to room, and tried to imagine choosing a wall, taking the measurement, checking the wall in Chief to make sure the measurement was entered accurately, and/or checking to see if the correct wall was selected, then selecting another wall, going to that wall with the Disto, measuring, then back to Chief to select another wall, then to the next room, rinse and repeat, and so on. There is even a video out there somewhere showing the technique but after watching that it only confirmed that it's simply not for me.
I am not a Luddite when it comes to technology but technology for technology's sake leaves me wanting as compelling as it is. And sure someone will post a thread about a lidar enhanced room measuring device that gets real close and is compelling because technology simply is compelling but I can get most measure done in under an hour, miss features rarely (any more) and am no longer enthralled with the latest measuring techniques. Do you remember Chief's Room Planner? Me either.
I did try using a Disto and room planner several times, it took me 3 times as long to measure, not for me either. But it was good to transfer it directly into Chief. Room planner had no way to take the outside measurements also.

Not recommending anyone else measure the way I do and this did not require extreme accuracy but this is what I brought home from the job walk to build the as built model. I take a pretty detailed video with my phone and note window sizes verbally as I know a 4040 slider when I see one or detail the windows when needed. I no longer measure the exterior. I tried graph paper and Rocket Book and a blue tooth laser and they just got in the way of my personal work flow. Looks pretty scary but really easy for me to interpret as all the squiggles mean something and translate pretty easily with the video for confirmation.
Larry, my wife Penny does all my measurements and gathering up all the information along with about 200 pictures and I'm good to go. Sometimes I will have a question, but the photos will most of the time tell me what I need. She will also crawl into an attic and take photos. She is a lot more limber than I.
