Thanks DB and Yes will probably use X17 in legacy mode when I complete a couple jobs started in Project management mode and decide to use it full time and the 'new features' in X17 are in no way a compelling reason for me to use X17. My business requires very little Ray Tracing use overall as the standard views serve my purposes in most cases (and the YouTube Videos I produce for my clients) and the very occasional need that I have for a Ray Trace the CPU Ray Trace, which doesn't take hours for an image, works just fine for my business.
I also have an older system and monitors that may or may not be compatible with a new graphics card and I can't justify the cost and complexity for something I really don't need.
Larry, I don't use project management and x17 is good for me, it does have other good stuff too. Just remember if you don't pay your SSA legacy ,you will have to pay full price from now on.

try changing the soffit material to opening -no material and make the sub fascia to whatever size you want the exposed rafters to show.

It's just too bad you can't fog out the front and show the back. I don't use it because of that.

I use 300 all the time and send clients a link to download.

in x17 you can import defaults from any previous plan.

Nice info here but as a single user, I just don't need it and will turn it off for now.

Looks to me like you need a better graphics card. never heard of yours try an RTX card.

they work for me in x16 without any updating

check the floor elevation in the foyer, it needs to match the others to be level. I always have the floor levels macro added to my room labels so I can see it instantly while working.

I use the program built into adobe for sending large files automatically. it sends a link that anyone can download. very fast also. the pdf is also stored in the cloud. I do have the paid version though. been doing it that way for many years now.

looking a little closer at the screenshots, it looks like CA is making roofs in addition to the manually drawn roofs? This, I think, is expected behaviour as I have this happen all the time and then I delete the auto generated roofs (and turn off the auto build roofs). it is a bit of a PIA if you add some more building and want that portion of the building to auto build. As you have to go build the roofs, and delete the other roofs auto done on the rest of the building. rinse repeat everytime you change the building addition
I also see the new roof overbuild the existing roofs and have to delete the new roofs; I think it's been that way forever.

Back in 2005 I started using Chief, I took 2 classes in San Diego and it really helped me get my head around all the basics I needed to draw these plans, never looked back after that. Before that I just couldn't get the correct procedure Chief likes so everything falls in place for you. Definitely worth it for me. If you use Chief the correct way it never lets you down.

Leaving this comment and final solution so others may find it helpful as well.
Thanks! With the use of this video segment (I think maybe I scrubbed through a little too fast!) and this article (https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00309/calculating-the-living-area-or-square-footage-of-a-plan.html), I was able to get the square footages I needed. Once I got the polylines done to the correct layer (It wanted to include siding to begin with), I went through an added them to custom schedules.
It now looks like this. The only issue I have, but can certainly deal with, is the same items aren't totaled together. I know there is probably a way to do it, but It's not a make or break thing.
Thanks!
P.S. Maybe I'll move to X16 soon! I had JUST purchased 15 when 16 came out, but I look forward to being able to put porch posts where I want them!
just be careful to check and verify that the schedule and the actual square footage are correct with what you want, they can be different. they really don't calculate the same way.

you might try turning off the sunlight

I have 2- 43" 4k monitors and love it. of course, my eyes need them.

It could also be a point marker

you can always use any existing dwg or dxf details and import those into Chief

I get something like that when trying to save it, sent it in to T.S. but they couldn't tell me why this was happening. I usually have to shut down and re-start to get rid of it. funny thing is it still saves the plan but says it can't save the plan in the message.
-
first put your schedule in a cad detail then send it to whatever page you want.

save even more money and get the 4070TI, working good for me

it looks illegal to me remember the 4" rule. Maybe a glass infill would work in that situation.

You could also remove the floor and add a ramp.
