  1. One more important thing is ,go to preferences and check "Color off" to be grayscale. Then turn color off (button in toolbar) and everything prints to grayscale. You don't have to set all your lines to black. Don't use light colors that you want to show up good or they will be too light, those items should be on the darker side. You really have to play with it  for yourself but once set its done forever.. This gives the plan a very nice contrast tone, walls are graytone also.

  2. Elevation layerset is to large to show and get it all in.. basically walls are 45, roof planes are 75 and windows are 20 . you must also lighten any roofing material or siding using a light gray color and a thinner lineweight. Play around with it and get it just how you like it. I can still go further now that casings have their own layer, they can outline the windows and doors, just haven't done it yet. I only rely on my elevations for information, the real pop comes from a 3d view in watercolor with lines and shadows, it also prints up better than a standard view in grayscale.

The Great Scott once did a Saturday session on this topic and may have some old video's on this, I think Joey was also there.. It was very informative as usual.

  3. I sometimes do trusses with conventional framing, like if the existing house is trusses and the addition is conventional .There has been a bug around for years now that if you had conventional framing on a second floor, the program would delete some of the trusses below, so I had to fake that part. All of my Builder clients will not buy trusses for an addition. I do know that if you have a partial plan that has trusses, the conventional part will automatically fill in with rafters/ c.j. when you frame it.

  4. Without the truss base the rafters will go to the lower rafters unless you have something else going on. Actually for me, it

would be easier to just place a new truss base and drag your trusses up the truss base. Maybe it doesn't copy and paste well.

I'll look and see if there is a video somewhere, or just make one.

  5. That's nice, it works ok for me b/c the reason for a watermark on my plan is to try to keep someone from copying it. I also don't use anything with a solid black color and print in grayscale, it seems to work good that way, but I understand everyone has their own thing going on, and the watermark might not show in every s.i. instance. I also place it (in front) very large almost a full sheet size so there is no question about what it is. Light gray (barely readable) color is the key
