Gene, The reason for the different height beams is that you have different height ceilings for the porch areas. -
Window in gable wall needs to be in two differing wall specs
glennw replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
Gene Without going too far into it, the ability to place a window spanning 2 different wall types was included many versions ago. I am not sure that it means anything to your situation though - maybe a wall inside is getting in the way? -
You can use the wall's edit handles as DBCooper says. You can't break the vertical end of the wall so you need to break the bottom of the wall and drag the corners around to get the shape you want. Not perfect, but may do the job. Here is a quick one.

Just a heads up that the S key has been available for many years as a hot key to disable Object Snaps and Extension Anchors. It looks like they have extended the functionality to dimensions.

Window Question - Rectangular Retrofit Window in Arched Opening
glennw replied to JKEdmo's topic in General Q & A
You can do that with a Wall Material Region using Cut Finish Layers of Parent Object. So...place a standard square topped window and then in elevation view draw the Wall Material Region to the shape you want to cut out the arched brickwork above the window. -
I tink you firstly need to extend the retaining wall at 90deg to the end of the existing retaining wall. You can then use the terrain elevation tools like Elevation Line to shape the terrain around the corner.

Does exporting as a Metafile work (.emf or .wmf)? I can't try it out as metafiles are not supported on mac.

My guess is that they are Point Markers left over from deleted Point to Point dimensions.....or something similar.

I need help with stairs, winders specifically. X10 version.
glennw replied to Michael_Lewis's topic in Tips & Techniques
There were some changes made to the stair tool about v10 - do you have V10 or v10b? Try this: Draw a straight stair section containing the number of winders you need. Mark them as Winders. Right click on the stairs ( or left click+Option on a mac) and drag them around to form the winders. They need to be contained within a room so that the winders can extend out to the walls of the staircase room. This is in V10: -
The large eave overhang is a result of chief trying to maintain the same height eave as the rest of the house. Go to Build Roof>Roof Height Uncheck everything except Same Height Eaves, then rebuild the roofs. I think that is correct - just have a play with the various settings.

I think it is the wall definition. The horizontal width of the birds mouth cut is dictated by the width of the main layers in the wall definition.

Some text in a window tab can't be changed (like project name and view type). You can change the camera name in the camera dbx and that change will be mirrored in the windows tab. If all you want to do is hilight the active tab, you can do that in the color settings in Preferences.

The reason you can't find an insulation fill is that it doesn't comply with a hatch patterns definition. A normal hatch (fill) pattern definition repeats in both x and y directions, whereas the insulation hatch only repeats in one direction (along it's length). This is a stretched Cad Block to illustrate, not a hatch pattern: It could be used in simple cases where you need a rectangular fill, but can't be used in cases like a fill pattern for a wall layer, or to fill odd shapes, etc.

Trusses should be easily fabricated on site with the correct hardware (nail plates, bolts, etc), timber, etc., designed by an engineer.

My first guess is to toggle on Ray Casted Sun Shadows.
