I would seriously consider waiting just a bit longer for X16 beta as we might get a feature for import and export of CAD details, which would just save a #%^&$ load of tiome

He wants an IFTTT setup where if a text box is toggled to display, an ordered list will populate that this particular text box is set to display -

The OP was talking about a text box and kindve implying a plumbing line diagram or something of the sort such as a CAD block -

Nice work Mark, I mean it. only problem I see with this is that whatever the element it is, it would need to be something that reports to schedule. I think instead maybe they could do this on the layout said using linking features. Need to think about it for a sec -
COME to MEEE my friend. I provide awesome tech support but only through the discord server that is linked through your purchase link for these items. DISCORD LINK Also you can use this name if you ever need to tag me. Yes it can be very problematic if you are backing up to a network with multiple machines as the machines will all by default sync to the same location causing all kinds of issues when two machines are trying to sync at the same time or you are havbing redundancy issues in the sync system. You would need to designate a different location for your chief data on a machine by machine basis. Also my toolbars have a very specific set of instructions for how they install, as well as the material files. I just uploaded an update to this and sent out mass emailers for it, check yorur spam Also just reach out to me, I am here to help. I have scrapers searching for my name every once in a while which is the only reason I caught this on here

would question what your desired end result is, why would this be useful? Maybe there is a different method we could point you to -
Only reason I started learning is because only a few macro users share any info and some of them will be(should be) retiring soon I've got a really complex macro for cabinets that follows formatting for industry standards on modular cabinets. I wont give too much away on it but it is split up into 3 macros, one for each cabinet type. It looks for all kinds of parameters such as num drawers, doors, full height doors, fixtures, conditional depth reporting, opening sizes, and even pricing. Nice to split them up because they get more and more complex over time Also thanks for the mention..feel free to ask macro questions, it helps everyone out and brings some users out that lurk but really know their stuff

Nice work. Might want to turn off leading 0’s in number for matter for your moldings. also be nice to set conditions for designating a sink base and m/w etc.If you want an additional challenge, you could script in splitting your double doors to report their actual size. Macros are fun thanks for sharing

shouldn't be a problem selecting a fixture like a mirror, can you possibly do a screen recording of what you are doing to try and select it in a perspective camera?

New Computer - Build or pre-built? Websites to buy reputable?
Renerabbitt replied to John_Charles's topic in General Q & A
well I have someone that would upgrade your existing if you wanted to go that route. I might even help him out. I just finished kindve a whacky build for myself. I am sponsored by AMD so I just put together a hybrid build based on a test bench: Kind've a fun project. If you don't want to put together a frankenbuild, I might suggest cyberpowerpc for desktops and eluktronics for laptops. More to come tomorrow -

Are you experiencing slow downs? Win 11 RAM management is built to use advanced memory compression and allocation, so it uses as much ram as possible and then reallocate as needed...its not like the way we used to manage ram back in pre-win 10 days...so even though it shows a heavy utilization, this doesn't directly correlate to a lack of avaialble memory. A suspended tab is one thing, but bookmarking and closing a tab kills the process of that tab Are you using the new memory saver of chrome. Chrome is the big resource hag because every tab is its own process. If the wifey is hard up on her tabs(I'm heavy into system analysis, and would poke one more time that this is terribly inefficient) then its time for a motherboard swap, and at that point you'd question budget for such a thing and if its worth it to grab a new machine. Are you sure that 32gb is max? Some mobo mfr release bios updates to support more ram. NVME drives are just way faster than traditional SSD's Motherboards for that socket type are less than $100. DDR4 Sticks are super cheap, like $50. You'll need a bigger power supply for the newer cards. a 1tb NVME drive is cheap rn too. You could save $1K by revaming your machine. Up to you -
Im in Caifornia, feel free to reach out

Sounds like you’ve got some other issues in chief, post an example plan through a Dropbox link. Are you on win 11? Much better ram management there. Are you using google chromes new features for suspended tabs? Also, I don’t know of anyone who can efficiently keep track of 20 tabs let alone 100, it would be far more efficient in terms of hardware specific workflow to bookmark tabs in a temp folder. 32gb should be plenty. I would upgrade your hard drives to m.2 nvme drives and your graphics card to a 4080/90 or a 7900xtx if you want higher end -
You would always need to download the file. Chief will not work with online-based files. You can not work on the same file at the same time(You can work on a duplicate of a file at the same time)

What I'm doing wrong? (Rope lighting, GPU raytrace)
Renerabbitt replied to KirillP's topic in General Q & A
This is really more about the limit of the render engine being used, more than the imlementation of it in Chiefs environment You could always switch to the CPU based rendering engine in Chief...or just wait to see what magiv they are bringing to X16. Also did you try my suggestion of switching to a point light with a shrowd, or creating the shrow and specifying it as a light and adding your own light sources....the rope light is not modeled the same as your example light so why would it have the same characteristics?
