as I mentioned, you will need to adjust the baseline angle to match the slope of your roof which is 15 degrees. then set your slope of the "soffit" roof plane to the degree you want, like -12 etc.
-
Just remember you will need to adjust the "baseline" angle at the inverse gable ("V") side of the soffit

yup..give this man a +1

FYI Chief locating the My Documents Folder is simply that, it locates the folder for default settings which would store data at that location. As soon as you relocate your Data folder CA no longer looks to your My Docs folder...there is no need to mess with it

voted for floor structure, too many potential probs putting into the finish IMO. will you be incorporating your joists into the panels or a girder system under?

On X-11 now I use notes and a note schedule. There are a ton of different ways to do this, I personally use a method that most people won't adopt, as I find that most people place their details in CAD detail management. You can renumber your details whenever you delete a redundant one. You can even draw an invisible arrow from the note to the CAD detail to have the note populate the CAD details name in the text field. I personally number my sheets with a note/schedule so that all of my details auto number and auto page.

Keep in mind if you aren't using the method that I illustrate it can be very easy for one system to try to write to a folder at the same time as another system causing authoring issues. This can happen in a number of different ways...sync delay, sync errors can cause the user library not to sync at close of the program, then when you open your CA on the other machine it will use the previous library build causing you to lose your work or have conflicting and different copies of a library database. It won't matter if you are using different cloud folders so long as you are trying to sync the same library across two machines. Machine A needs CA to be shut down and the user library completely uploaded and confirmed in your cloud sync before you open machine B's CA. This can be very time consuming if you have a library that is over a gig on a slow connection...If for some reason you have a sync issue then Machine B will sometimes see a user library as locked and save its user library as "user library_machineB.calib"...making it unusable at next boot since CA will only look for "user library", and so you've lost your work.

Locations for fixtures on a cathedral ceiling - Sanity Check
Renerabbitt replied to Ravenquills's topic in General Q & A
Keep them on the second floor, you can adjust offsets in the fixture's open-object dbx. You can also edit offset in 2d sections or 3d space. The delete surface tool an d convert to symbol tools can help you if you have a fixture with a base built for a flat ceiling. -
Running the data folder on a cloud sync is very problematic for a number of reasons...I would advise against it. You can however point your toolbars to the same folder as well as hotkeys etc..using the same methods for syncing libraries. Check my symbols and content thread in my sig...I go over a method for syncing libraries that a few people have had success with in an office environment.

Just to clarify, are you saying that the icon .png(image) files of each individual toolbar tool is different across two computers, or are you saying that the toolbar configuration(layout/orientation) is different?

Try deleting a light and hitting undo maybe post a .plan file with your camera saved and called out so we can take a look

.png is lossless, but it will not maintain scale the way the PDF does. You will have to use the point to point resize tool and lock the images ratio.

Stairs - Risers and Treads
Renerabbitt replied to Joe_Carrick's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
nice, thank you, +1 -
Buy Joe's macros and try and discern the logic, it helps me when I am creating a script. I don't remember if Joe offer's training or not, I know @Alaskan_Son does..well worth the investment in time savings if you're doing more than 10 drawings a year. Also take a look through @BrownTiger 's old posts as well as @GerryT, these guys know their stuff

Used CA to organize my ridiculous garage, in hopes of finally being able to park my winter car in it..happy so far, thanks CA..maybe now people will stop trying to tow it for sitting all summer

ran out of time joe but here is the bucket and the flange, you can put the two together and feasibly make the cc86: CC tools.calibz -
Heavy Duty Timber Connection Symbols

Probably time for me to add something to my symbols thread, I might do it for you on lunch, can you post a pic? -
LAYOUT view showing wall behind wall covering
Renerabbitt replied to DenisonDrywall's topic in General Q & A
please post your.plan file -
I decided not to mention my frustrations with this .plan...I spent a good hour or so messing around with it and it was turning into a real bag of worms. As solver said the front and back porch should be defined by using room dividers. CA doesn't really let you design from the roof down but the roof should've been designed starting from the shell of the building. The best methods IMO and I think solver would agree is by starting with auto-build roofs...learn that tool and complex roofs will become very manageable. There are a lot of walls with strange roof designations, stretched top heights, no room definitions.... there are also many rooms that are different from the floor defaults and didn't make much sense to me, not knowing what is true and what may be a mistake. Admittedly I gave up on the effort after deleting the second floor and still running into problems. I don't know that me posting this info is helpful, I certainly don't mean to be rude, there are some best practices for putting together a building in CA like this that maybe should be studied.

WHERE THE HECK ARE THE WINDOW/DOOR HEADER DEFAULTS?
Renerabbitt replied to Renerabbitt's topic in General Q & A
bingo...this originated as someone elses plan and they had some very strange RO defaults for the hinge doors only..thank you, that was a new one for me -
WHERE THE HECK ARE THE WINDOW/DOOR HEADER DEFAULTS?
Renerabbitt replied to Renerabbitt's topic in General Q & A
thank you for that, still can't figure out why the member size is the same but the window header reports a 4x12! -
I've used the search tool and searched the forums and can't figure this one out. Up until now I've used a custom window/door macro that called out headers...decided to switch to the framing labels and, welp, take a look: the window shows "4x12" as I like, the doors show "11-1/8 "even though the spec'd deflt is 11-1/4. my door default for that door is set to auto calc based on width, same as the window, yet I have two very different labels even though both use defaults....AND WHERE THE HECK ARE THE DEFAULTS??!! I can't find header label defaults anywhere, somehow they are different labels even though they are identical framing members

Just some final thoughts on this, there ARE some dryers in the current market that state vent length requirements in excess of the CMC requirement. You still need to get it approved with your building official, and some jurisdictions will only approve it if it seems necessary in working with the existing building envelope and potential obstacles. Something to keep in mind is that the next homeowner or even existing client may replace a failing dryer without knowledge of the additional vent length requirements. Designers/draftspeople should ask themselves, what will you do to ensure you are properly covered in case this happens, always good to talk to your carrier and ask these questions. I myself will general avoid a mfr allowance if I can stay within the prescriptive measures of the code...why chance it on the liability? if it poses a question could I be held liable, I'd rather avoid it alltogether.
