Rich_Winsor
Just ran my 1st Ray Trace in X8 and I am experiencing some unexpected behavior. Wondering if anybody else is experiencing this? When making adjustments in the "Image Properties" dbx all the slider bars are now moving in 10% increments. This happens either when using the left & right arrows on the keyboard or when clicking the mouse to the left or right of the slider button. In X7 this these techniques would result in 1% increment changes. I hope this is a bug as this new behavior makes it very hard to work in increments smaller than 10%. You can get increments smaller than 10% by dragging the slider button with the mouse but this method is imprecise and takes an inordinate amount of effort. Try setting the General Properties sliders to the amounts pictured in the thumbnail and see if you get similar results.
Barton_Brown
Sliders move in 10% increments for me as well. Finer tuning can be done by typing the desired number into the dbx.
Rich_Winsor
Thanks for confirming the behavior Barton. I can't believe more people aren't up in arms about this. Trying to accurately drag the slider in 1% increments with the mouse or manually entering every change by keyboard just aren't viable options if you are trying to compare how small adjustments in the sliders are reflected in the current Ray Trace image. Anyhow, I submitted it as a bug in my first ever Chief Support Case. We shall see what the powers that be have to say. With all the nice new features they have introduced with this release it would be a shame if we have to take a step backwards in productivity with this change. TheKitchenAbode
If I use these I've always typed in the %. In most cases I save the image and use other image editors. Always found this built-in adjuster to be very basic, even Microsofts photo app editor is far better, it provides highlight and shadow adjustments. Next level would be Photoscape and then Photoshop if required. However, if the built-ins' could be improved, more features, better algorithms and slider control it could definitely be a time saver. Rich, This behavior can be helped by stretching out the dbx as wide as you like. Although this helps a lot for the mouse drag adjustment, it doesn't help with the keyboard arrow adjustment method or mouse click method in 10% increments. Same things apply to other dbx's like the Cross Section Slider. I really think that this is an improvement. Previously the mouse click or keyboard arrow methods were way too fine as they only moved the sliders 1% or unit each time. If you check Save Dialog Size and Position in Preferences...General, the dbx will remember it's width and you won't have to resize it every time.
