jbur91
Can anyone tell me why my railing walls are always doing this? Even though I have this brick wall converted to a railing, I can still see bricks on the foundation in camera views. Also, this weird trench keeps appearing along the perimeter of the porch foundation. Very annoying as it is ruining my camera views and I don't know what settings I have on that are causing this. Any help would be much appreciated; the plan in question is attached below with a screenshot of what it looks like on my camera views. DBCooper
Instead of drawing a brick wall and then changing it to a railing, you might be better off just drawing a railing wall to start. To fix your walls, you might be able to open the dialog and change the wall type from a "brick" type into a "railing" type. The walls are probably going to resize though and then you will need to move them to the proper positions.
jbur91
Even if I used the railing tool instead of the wall tool, I would want the wall type for that railing to be the same "Brick, Double-Sided" as it is now, because that lets me easily snap the central layer of the railing wall to the central framing layer of the adjoining exterior walls to keep the centers of the columns correctly aligned with the wall framing. It also provides the correct footprint for the porch foundation that allows me to switch from wood posts to our 14 3/8" brick columns without changing the foundation itself. This issue still happens when I do that though. It appears as though any wall type with multiple layers creates that trench effect on the foundation in camera views. Also, that doesn't seem to answer the question of why brick is still visible after I've changed the wall to a railing. Isn't the wall itself supposed to go away and be replaced by the railing I've specified?

Copy the wall type, give it a new name and change that outer layer to Concrete. In order to maintain your wall thickness and keep everything aligned, simply change the thickness of the outer layer to the same as the total of all the exterior layers (5 7/16) and delete the other layers (see images). jbur91
Why are materials from the wall above showing up on the foundation? Is that intentional? Also, your tip about removing the insulation air gap layers isn't working. As with the other things I've tried, it appears normal for a few seconds, then the camera freezes for a second and the trench reappears.
Solution jbur91 Posted Wednesday at 04:54 PM Author Solution Share Posted Wednesday at 04:54 PM Nevermind; I figured it out. I unknowingly had a 2.25" extension assigned to the exterior layer of that wall type, which I guess was causing the wall to extend down into the foundation. This must have been causing both issues I was talking about, as removing it has removed the "trench" and the extra brick showing up on the foundation
