GaryOhmer
I got what I asked for - the ability to off-set the deck rim joist 4.125" from the house but I wish when the rim joist is no longer in touch with the siding it wouldn't leave a big hole in the rim joist location, I want to see siding! The "Build Deck Platform to Exterior of Layer" dropdown controls which layer the deck platform should build against, cutting out the layers between the outermost layer and the selected layer. By setting this dropdown to your siding layer, no layers will be cut out, and the ledger will build against that layer. The "Offset from Edge" control within the Deck Specification, which sounds like the control you've found, allows you to specify an additional offset to apply from the layer the ledger is built against. An example of using both of these controls: If you set the shown dropdown above to your wall's siding layer and also specify an offset of 1" within the deck specification, the ledger board will build 1" off the siding layer of the wall. Hope that makes sense!
